Your organs refuse to be confined within your weak and frail mortal form. The clock is ticking away, the reading time seems to drag on forever. You look at the questions on the paper before you, you don't dare speak a word, your mind is crying out in fear, you look to the apparitions in your mind for help. You are fairly certain others can hear the panicked conversations you are having in your mind. "Help me" you want to cry out, "surely this is of more ease to you than I" you think. You glance around the silent exam hall, wondering how you will make it out alive.

The exam has begun, and a shaking hand reaches for one of the pens before you. You begin to write, the pen twirls and races across the page. You must make it seem like you have more confidence than you feel, you must silence the frightened beast roaring inside you. You don't dare glance behind you at the door, and at the front of the room the invigilator is watching you with eyes like a hawk. You tense up when you feel them hovering over you, watching you as you pause for a moment in fear. Fear that they are silently judging what you wrote and making mental notes about whether or not it is right or wrong.

You long to just stand up and cry out that you cannot stand this fearful silence a minute longer. You long to be free of this dreaded paper, you long to be free of the classmates you've suffered with for too long. You can't take another day of being trapped in your room studying and looking up at the same walls almost every hour of the day. Occasionally you get up and start having interesting conversations…with yourself. Ultimately you predict your fate for this paper, you do not see a particularly high mark in your future. You look to those who everyone said would succeed, those who sat this very exam with the same hope. You fear you will fail, you fear you will be a disappointment.

With this fear comes cynicism and loathing, you can almost see the watchful eye of those who judge you, those who believe that what you do is worthless and a waste of valuable time. Still you try, you try to find your way there, weaving your way against the onslaught of doubts, fears, and catch 22 bullshit. You aren't fond of it, but one must grit their teeth and bear with a world that seems ready to screw them over any minute now. Once in a while, working up the courage to fight against it and soldier on with the knowledge that you are not alone. We're all totally fucked, but we certain aren't alone.
