Today I was sitting

and thinking:

did I really forget you?

I remember your face

the one I keep searching for in others.

I remember your voice

the peace it carried,

like hot coffee in winter.

I remember your smile,

as sweet as lavender.

I remember your eyes,

the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.

I try to replace you,

but I fail.

No one carries what you did,

and I can’t even tell you.

I wait for a message, a call,

but silence is the only reply I get.

I try to picture you in my own way,

but the image always fades.

The memories stay

your face,

your voice,

your presence.

I act like I’ve forgotten,

but I haven’t.

You live in me still,

and maybe you always will.

Maybe one day you’ll call my name.

Maybe not.

Until then, I carry you,

like an unfinished sentence in my soul.
