本書以金庸先生筆下的世界觀與已知設定為基礎，透過原創劇情與人物，描寫獨孤求敗從一位平凡少年，一步步歷經家破、闖蕩江湖、百戰悟劍、創立《獨孤九劍》、歷經情義與失落、領悟玄鐵重劍、木劍無鋒，最終踏入「無劍勝有劍」境界的一生。

全書，不只是描寫一位天下第一高手的傳奇，更希望呈現一位武者如何從追求勝利，走向追求大道；從執著於手中的劍，走向放下心中的劍。

本作品為致敬金庸先生的武俠同人創作，故事內容為作者依據原著留下的線索所進行的想像與演繹，並非金庸先生原著正史，也無意取代原著設定。
