He laughed.

"I noticed you more."

"You were always kind."

"You greeted teachers."

"You helped classmates."

"You even helped juniors you didn't know."

"...that's when I started falling for you."

I listened quietly.

No one had ever described me like that before.

No one had ever paid such close attention to the little things I did.

"You remember all of that?"

"I remember everything."

He answered without hesitation.

I smiled and rested my shoulder lightly against his.

"I'm glad you never gave up."

Korn smiled.

"So am I."

As the sky slowly darkened...

We stood to leave.

Before we walked away, Korn looked back at the bench.

"Can we come here again?"

I smiled.

"Whenever you want."

He looked at me with that same warm smile I had come to love.

"Then..."

"This will be our place."

I nodded.

"Our secret place."

As we walked home together...

Hand in hand...

I realized something.

For the first time since I had fallen in love years ago...

I wasn't comparing the present to the past anymore.

I was simply living in the moment.
