Why would you press the big red button that says 'do not press'?!" Andromeda barks.7Please respect copyright.PENANAoCEdO9A6O1
"Uh ... it was shiny." Elliot shrugs, smiling sheepishly.7Please respect copyright.PENANA39yr7LGnVV
A large door on the other side of the room creaks open.
"Let's go out," says Elliot enthusiastically.
"Wait," whispers Andromeda, "There's something written beneath the warning that says not to press the button. Let's at least read it,"
Elliot shoves forward and leans over the table where the button is placed, and begins to read out loud, "Whoever presses this button will be transported to the past, and be stuck there unless they fulfil their duty. Them, and whoever else happens to be inside this room, are now responsible to defeat the evil villainess who calls herself the queen. After she is defeated, the red button will have to be pressed again and the person can return to the future,"
"Huh," he mutters, "Why can't I just press the button again now?"
He attempts to press the button but it is stuck in place, "I guess defeating this villainess will allow us to press the button again. So what are you waiting for?"
Andromeda looks at him sharply, "We're in the past, and you really think we can defeat an evil villainess who has claimed the throne? Elliot, you're always dragging us onto trouble!"
Elliot shoves her toward the door, "That's what siblings are for. Come on, we can do this. We've gotten away with so many missing homeworks together. This is no big deal,"
"Ugh," Andromeda walks to the door.
They both step outside and look at their surroundings.
"Do you think we should just... Go back?" Elliot days, terrified of how ancient everything looks.
"Well... no," Andromeda takes a deep breath, "Okay, Elliot, I have a plan, but only if you promise that you'll follow my lead,"
"We're supposed to work as a team!"
"We will,"
They both walk forward and Andromeda goes up to a random stranger, "Excuse me, do you know where the palace is?"
He looks at her indifferently and points to the left. After a few minutes of walking they teach the huge crystal palace.
It looks grand and elegant, but it gives off the vibe that someone evil lives there. The walls are all black, and each crystal woven onto it looks strangely jagged.
They walk inside without saying a word, both of them too stunned to speak.
Inside, a guard asks them, "What brings you two to the palace?"
"Um, we want to visit the queen," whispers Elliot hurriedly.
The guard nods and let's them pass.
Andromeda looks at Elliot with a smile, "Nice excuse,"
They both walk to the queen, who is sitting with dominance and power on her grand throne, looking at them in a judging way.
"What brings two helpless children to my palace?" she says coldly.
"Er... we were wondering if you have any... food. We don't have any," Andromeda says breathlessly.
"How dare you come to me for such foolish reasons! My palace has no place for the poor!" she bellows, "Guards! Imprison them!"
"No, wait!" Elliot says helplessly, but the guards drag them both away to the underground prison where they get locked up.
"I thought you had a plan!" whispered Elliot.
"Well, I thought I'd make one up as we went along. I didn't know the queen was this evil!"
Elliot sighed, "Well, what do we do now?"
Andromeda's eyes look misty, "I'm the one who got us into this, Elliot. I'll get us out,"
She looks almost guilty, as if she was the one who pressed the button.
"But, Andromeda, it was me,"
"You just pressed the button. I brought is to the palace!"
The next day, Andromeda tells the guards that she wants to see the queen.
"What is it? Is life in prison not enough?" she says, "I also do executions if you want,"
"No, I... wanted to look around the palace. It looks so beautiful. You seem to have worked hard on it,"
The praise makes her anger fade, and she mutters, "Fine, but then you return to the dungeons. Don't touch anything,"
"But I'll also have to tell you how I liked it in the end,"
The queen looks at her and whispers, "If you don't like it, I'll do something much worse to you, understand?"
Andromeda nods shakily.
As she walks around the palace trailed by the guards, she stumbles upon the weapon room.
"This is my only chance. This queen is evil anyway," she thinks.
She grabs a sword and says to the guards, "I have to talk to the queen about this,"
The guards looks at her tentatively, but let her go to the queen.
"Can I know what awesome things you did with this?" she asks.
"I said don't touch anything. I will not give you any food or water in prison from now on. But for now, yes I'll tell you. In the past, my only soldier used it to kill the old king so that I could claim this palace," she says proudly.
"Oh,"
Andromeda closes her eyes, "Then I'll use it,"
She looks at the guards, 'Please imprison her,"
They shake their heads and try to restrain her, but she resists.
The queen gets up and points a dagger at Andromeda's throat, but before she can attack, Andromeda slashes the sword into her leg, and turns to the guards, "Please, She can't do anything now. She's unconscious. She'll wake up safely in a while, but I know she's evil and that you're all scared of her. Just imprison her and get a better ruler,"
After a while, they actually look at her and smile nervously.
"Yes. Thanks so much, we were scared of her. She's evil, you wouldn't know,"
They later put the villainess behind bars and let Andromeda and Elliot go.
They press the button and return, but they keep the story of this adventure to themselves.
