大寧王朝，盛世之下，鬼案頻生。

長安城內，凡是被列為「無解」的命案，都會在案卷右上角，被人悄悄蓋上一枚血紅色印記——

「夜探」。

據說，這代表此案只能交給一個人。

他沒有官職，沒有爵位。

白天是替人抄寫案卷、整理古籍的無名書吏；夜晚卻是專破奇案的神秘探案人。

然而，所有人都不知道的是……

那些看似詭異的鬼神殺人案，其實每一宗，都藏著一個比死人更可怕的活人。

直到有一天。

一封二十年前早已結案的舊卷宗，再次出現在他的桌上。

卷宗首頁，只寫著八個字。

「第一個死的人，不是死者。」

而那一刻開始……

整個長安，將再沒有一個人是無辜的。
