The two mutated beasts and Song Xiaodao watched Zhao Yin's actions, their faces filled with shock.
Zhao Yin felt as though he were standing inside a massive Mongolian yurt. The fabric was exquisite-a brilliant blue ceiling embroidered with the sun, moon, and stars. The circular cloth walls depicted mountains, rivers, flowers, birds, fish, and insects...
Even the potholed, rubble-strewn ground had transformed into a flat wool carpet.
"Zhao Yin, did you just unbox this?" Song Xiaodao couldn't help but ask.
Zhao Yin nodded. "It's called an Invisibility Tent. Over four hundred defense points. Nothing in this apocalypse can break through it right now. Our safety just got another layer of protection."
In an excellent mood, he finished speaking and strode out of the tent.
Song Xiaodao quickly followed. Little Monkey hurried along behind them. Finally, the water buffalo decided it shouldn't be unsociable and moved its four hooves to follow as well.
Zhao Yin stepped outside and turned back to look. It was still the same patch of rubble. Then a small human figure appeared out of thin air-Song Xiaodao, who had just walked out of the tent. Following her were Little Monkey and the water buffalo.
If Zhao Yin hadn't set up the tent himself, even his powerful mental strength wouldn't have detected its existence.
"Old Bull, charge forward. Use all your strength." Zhao Yin pointed at the tent and commanded.
The water buffalo froze for a moment, staring at the empty space before it. Though it had many questions, it still activated its Great Strength ability.
The water buffalo charged forward.
The master said to use all its strength, so it would prove to the master just how strong it really was.
Boom!
The water buffalo crashed into what felt like an invisible wall. The recoil sent it toppling flat on its side.
Carrying several tons of weight, it took a long time to slowly get back up.
Little Monkey watched the water buffalo with undisguised glee. Song Xiaodao's eyes widened as she stared at the invisible barrier before her.
A faint smile appeared on Zhao Yin's lips. The Mountain-Cleaving Machete materialized in his hand, and he swung it forward with all his might.
Clang!
The impact made his arm go numb. He nearly lost his grip on the machete.
Within his perception, there wasn't even a scratch on the Invisibility Tent. As expected, A-rank items were formidable!
After testing the tent's defensive capabilities, Zhao Yin led Song Xiaodao and the two mutated beasts back inside.
"Time to eat," Zhao Yin said.
The two beasts and Song Xiaodao immediately gathered around, all staring at him expectantly.
Zhao Yin took out thirty raw chestnuts. Too lazy to roast them, he tossed twenty to Little Monkey but only gave ten to the water buffalo.
Favoritism, plain as day.
"Thank you, my great, handsome, invincible, most beloved master!" Seeing that the water buffalo had half the chestnuts it did, Little Monkey happily bounced and scurried around Zhao Yin.
Monkeys hold grudges. It hadn't forgotten that the water buffalo almost got its master killed.
The water buffalo looked at Little Monkey's pile, then at its own. The expression in its single eye drooped with dejection.
Inner voice: "Master is being biased. Little Calf is very unhappy."
"If you want to be treated like the monkey, then work hard for me from now on," Zhao Yin scolded. "And stop calling yourself 'Little Calf.' Take a piss and look at your own size. From now on, you're Old Bull. Got it?"
The water buffalo lowered its head and didn't dare make a sound.
"Zhao Yin, what about me?" Song Xiaodao quickly asked. "Why didn't you give me any chestnuts?"
Both mutated beasts got chestnuts, but it seemed Zhao Yin had forgotten her entirely.
Song Xiaodao subconsciously reached for her chest. Hidden against her flat chest was a small piece of roasted chestnut she hadn't finished eating last night.
Zhao Yin reached toward her waist. The Butterfly Knife was tied there with a torn cloth strip. He snatched it away, then sat down cross-legged on the wool carpet.
He took out a pile of chestnuts and stacked them in front of him. The blade sliced across the chestnut skin, creating a slit. He rubbed his fingers gently, and the skin peeled off.
Golden-yellow chestnut meat appeared beneath.
A few minutes later, Zhao Yin had peeled over a dozen. He finally looked up at Song Xiaodao. "These chestnuts are all yours."
"All for me?" Song Xiaodao's spirits lifted instantly.
It wasn't the number of chestnuts that mattered to her. It was that Zhao Yin had personally peeled them for her.
Since the apocalypse began, aside from her brother, no one had ever been this good to her.
Zhao Yin didn't notice the little girl's gaze. He said calmly, "Before you eat the chestnuts, drink the potion I gave you."
"Okay."
In her happiness, she didn't even ask what kind of potion it was. She just picked it up and chugged it.
Gulp!
Song Xiaodao smacked her lips and let out an "Ah!" "Zhao Yin, it tastes great!"
"Yeah, sweet and sour." Zhao Yin nodded.
The next moment, Song Xiaodao's face flushed bright red. Her eyes widened as she stared at Zhao Yin. "No, I... my stomach hurts. Zhao Yin, what kind of potion is this?"
"F-rank Evolution Potion. It can unlock the hidden evolutionary genes inside you. If you can endure it, you'll gain power like mine. If you can't, you'll either die or become a vegetable."
Zhao Yin's tone remained calm.
"Why didn't you tell me beforehand?" Song Xiaodao complained. In just a few seconds, her face went from red to white, then from white to green.
Soon, sweat soaked the hair on her forehead. Her white t-shirt was drenched, clinging tightly to her immature body.
Song Xiaodao's entire frame visibly began to shrink.
Zhao Yin understood the pain of taking an Evolution Potion. He grabbed a chestnut. "Want me to feed you?"
Song Xiaodao was about to nod when she suddenly remembered the scene of Zhao Yin feeding her leaves. Enduring the pain, she took the chestnut and began devouring it in large bites.
Zhao Yin continued peeling chestnuts. Occasionally, he ate one himself. Crisp, sweet, and delicious.
He watched Song Xiaodao calmly.
In her past life, she had remained an ordinary person until her dying breath.
In this life, Zhao Yin had given her this opportunity.
This time around, Zhao Yin didn't keep idle people by his side. Even though he was grateful for her sacrifice in his past life, that was all it was. He had given her the best he could offer. Whether she could seize it depended on her.
She would either become his powerful ally... or die.
Song Xiaodao devoured the chestnuts. Her small body trembled more and more violently. Muffled groans escaped her nose, but she never stopped eating.
If she stopped, even for a minute, unable to bear the pain, she would starve to death.
Zhao Yin glanced at the dozen or so chestnuts left in front of him and stopped peeling. These were enough for Song Xiaodao to last until the evolution was complete.
He began organizing the supernatural supplies inside his Spatial Ring.
Today, he had killed twenty-six F-rank zombies and one E-rank Zombie King. A massive haul!
Nine bottles of Nongfu Spring. Two packs of Instant Noodles for warmth. Three pieces of Filled Bread for healing. Three Compressed Biscuits for energy. Two Tuna Cans for resisting F-rank viruses. Only one bottle of Iced Black Tea left-the one that doubled stats for an hour.
Little Monkey still had one bottle of Iced Black Tea.
The original Military Jacket had been destroyed, but a new one dropped today.
Additionally, there was one new weapon each: a Spiked Club and a Mountain-Cleaving Machete, plus one E-rank Women's Suit!
Zhao Yin didn't plan to use the supernatural food and water lightly. Last time, he wouldn't have touched a single bite if he hadn't been desperate for sustenance to support his evolution.
After putting away all the supernatural food, he began organizing the equipment.
First, the Spiked Club that had smashed the Zombie King. That was definitely going to Little Monkey.
The thing was too heavy. Zhao Yin had only been able to smash the Zombie King because he had drunk the Iced Black Tea for its strength-doubling effect.
Although Little Monkey's strength couldn't compare to Zhao Yin's now, after activating its Giantification ability, its strength doubled. Wielding it would be no problem.
The D-rank Mountain-Cleaving Machete's stats weren't inferior to the Spiked Club's, but it was much lighter. Zhao Yin planned to keep it for himself.
Thus, the Tang Dao was phased out, left for Song Xiaodao after her evolution.
The Butterfly Knife was also left for Song Xiaodao, so she could continue using it to "slice watermelons." Zhao Yin himself didn't like close-quarters combat.
As for guns and bows, Zhao Yin picked the best-maintained pistol, paired it with a hundred rounds of ammo, and set it aside for Song Xiaodao. The rest were all put away.
Next, what could be distributed included the D-rank Heavy Armor, the E-rank Women's Suit, the F-rank Military Jacket, and the F-rank Dress.
As for the Fishnet Stockings, Zhao Yin didn't even consider distributing them.
That was his essential tool for escaping and staying alive. How could he give it to someone else?
