Campus · Wind Wander Society
The campus was crowded in the afternoon.
Sunlight fell through the tree shadows beside the school building, scattering across the corridor floor before being stepped apart by passing students. From the distant sports field came the squeak of sneakers against the ground. A basketball struck the court again and again, mixed with laughter and shouting, sounding no different from any ordinary day.
Too ordinary.
So ordinary it felt as if someone had deliberately hidden every abnormal thing inside this noise.
Yeqing walked at the front, then suddenly stopped.
“…It’s a little noisy.”
Lin Hao froze.
“Noisy?”
Gu Chengyuan had both hands in his pockets. The corner of his mouth lifted slightly.
“Someone wants to show off.”
As soon as he finished speaking, footsteps sounded from the side corridor.
Not one person.
More than a dozen people slowly walked out from behind the tree shadows, from the corners of the walls, and from the sides of the classrooms, blocking the path in front of the three of them. Their outfits were different. Some looked like students, while some clearly were not. But their formation was practiced. They spread out front and back, pressing down both exits from left and right. This was not something done on impulse.
The leader stared at Gu Chengyuan, his eyes dark and clearly irritated.
Gu Chengyuan tilted his head.
“Oh? A fan meeting?”
He smiled.
“If you want an autograph, line up.”
The air instantly tightened.
The leader did not smile.
“Hand it over.”
Lin Hao froze.
“…What?”
The other man did not look away.
“The jade pendant.”
Yeqing’s brows furrowed slightly.
Lin Hao, on the other hand, looked completely confused.
“Jade pendant? What jade pendant?”
But Gu Chengyuan smiled.
It was a faint smile, as if he had already guessed what the other side would say, and as if he had finally waited for them to say it themselves.
“Your information is wrong.”
He spoke slowly.
“We’re acting under orders too.”
The air stopped for an instant.
A few people on the other side subconsciously frowned.
Gu Chengyuan did not look at them. He only raised his hand casually and pointed in a certain direction.
“Over there.”
Everyone turned at the same time.
Behind a tree, Bai Xue’s pupils shrank.
She had been seen.
She had hidden well. The tree shadows, the flow of students, the blind spot near the wall—every position had been chosen cleanly. But Gu Chengyuan seemed to have known she was there from the beginning. He had simply waited for this moment to drag her into the sunlight as well.
The eyes of the Wind Wander Society members changed immediately.
“There’s another one?”
Gu Chengyuan laughed softly.
“Don’t you people like stealing things?”
His tone was lazy.
“That one isn’t bad either.”
Lin Hao’s expression changed.
“Ah Yuan, that joke went too far.”
Gu Chengyuan did not turn back. The smile was still on his lips.
“How is it a joke?”
He slowly pulled his hand out of his pocket.
“I’m helping them find what they’re looking for.”
Yeqing glanced at Gu Chengyuan and said nothing.
But her eyes had already changed.
Well done.
Gu Chengyuan was not selling out Bai Xue.
He was dragging the people hiding in the dark—and the scheme hiding behind them—into the sunlight together.
The next second, the air exploded.
“Get them!”
The Wind Wander Society members rushed first.
More than a dozen people pressed in at the same time. Their footsteps instantly drowned out all the noise on campus. Leaves shook from the impact. Several passing students retreated in fright. A backpack knocked against the wall. A water bottle fell to the ground and rolled away with a crisp sound.
Lin Hao stepped forward first.
“Wait—”
Before he could finish, the first person had already crashed into him.
Lin Hao lowered his body and forcibly received the incoming force. His feet slid back a short distance, the soles of his shoes scraping sharply against the ground.
His brows furrowed.
“…You’re serious?”
A fist came in from the left.
Lin Hao turned sideways to avoid it. He did not retreat far. Instead, he stepped in close. The opponent’s punch had just missed, and his shoulder line had not yet recovered when Lin Hao’s fist drove shortly into his chest.
Bang.
The man’s chest tightened, and his body instinctively shrank back.
Lin Hao followed that reaction and swept low with his foot.
Leg sweep.
The opponent’s lower base was cut out from under him, and he fell sideways, crashing into the companion beside him.
Another person stepped in from the front and raised his leg to kick.
Lin Hao cut inward with his footwork, intercepting before the opponent could release power. His knee dipped slightly, and an intercepting kick landed directly on the outside of the opponent’s supporting leg. Before the man’s kicking leg had fully lifted, his body was already tilted.
Lin Hao grabbed his wrist with one hand and slipped his other hand into the shoulder line, pulling the man downward.
Bang!
The man’s shoulder and back smashed into the ground, the pain knocking the breath out of him.
Lin Hao did not continue striking. He simply twisted the man’s arm behind his back and pinned it to the ground.
“Don’t get up again.”
His voice was not heavy.
But it was steady.
On the other side, Gu Chengyuan had already cut into the crowd.
His fighting style was completely different from Lin Hao’s.
Lin Hao blocked the front.
Gu Chengyuan disrupted the rhythm.
He stepped forward with his lead foot, and his body seemed to suddenly break tempo, letting the first punch scrape past his face. Before the opponent could react, Gu Chengyuan’s fist had already slipped in close to the chin.
Pak.
The man’s head snapped up, and his steps became messy.
Gu Chengyuan did not stand there to add another punch. He slid sideways and avoided a sneak attack from behind.
“Line up.”
He smiled.
“One at a time.”
The attacker missed his kick and lunged forward.
Gu Chengyuan reached out, caught the man’s ankle, and pulled it sideways with the motion. The opponent lost balance on one leg and toppled to the side. Before he could even fall properly, Gu Chengyuan had already pressed a knee onto his leg and locked the ankle outward.
The man’s face changed instantly.
“Pain, pain, pain!”
Gu Chengyuan looked down at him.
“If you know it hurts, behave.”
Someone pounced from behind.
Gu Chengyuan did not turn around. He simply released the ankle, spun his body, and drove a back kick into the attacker’s abdomen.
Bang!
The man doubled over.
Using the force of the turn, Gu Chengyuan dropped his arm, locked the man’s neck and shoulder, and dragged him sideways. The man staggered two steps and was pulled straight into the wall.
Thud.
Gu Chengyuan let go and clapped his hands lightly.
“Next.”
Yeqing’s side was a completely different scene.
She did not fight for the front, nor did she clash head-on.
When someone punched at her, her footwork turned, and her whole body slid to the opponent’s side like she was moving around the wind itself. The instant the punch missed, her palm touched the opponent’s arm. She did not use brute force. She simply followed the momentum of his charge and led it outward.
The man’s body was dragged away by his own punching force, and his feet became disordered.
Yeqing hooked lightly with her toe.
The opponent stumbled forward.
Before he could fall, Yeqing had already caught his wrist. Her arm rotated, pressing his shoulder down.
His whole body was forced to turn. His arm locked behind his back, his face nearly pressed to the ground.
“Don’t move.”
Yeqing’s voice was very light.
The man tried to struggle.
She only pressed her wrist down slightly.
“Ugh!”
He immediately stopped moving.
Another person rushed in from the side and swept his leg toward Yeqing. She released the man on the ground and stepped back to avoid the sweep. In the next instant, she slid forward again, striking the outside of the opponent’s knee with the heel of her palm.
The leg force was knocked off course, and his body turned sideways.
Yeqing casually pulled his collar, circled her step to the outside, and seemed to pluck him directly out of his original path.
Bang.
The man fell into the crowd, knocking down two companions with him.
Bai Xue stood in the distance, watching the three of them. Her pupils contracted slightly.
Wrong.
These three people…
They were not ordinary students.
Fists crossed through the air. Footsteps broke the ground rhythm. Figures fell one after another.
Lin Hao guarded the front, opening paths with fists and elbows, intercepting lines with kicks. Anyone who tried to pass him would have their rhythm broken on the spot and be thrown back to the ground.
Gu Chengyuan moved through the crowd, punching chins, kicking abdomens, locking arms, trapping legs, dragging people into walls whenever he found an opening. The opponents could not catch his tempo at all.
Yeqing circled along the side, refusing to clash directly. Every time she closed in, it looked as if she only gave a light pull, but the other person would either be thrown out or locked down until they could not move.
This was not a fight.
This was suppression.
The Wind Wander Society members began to retreat.
But it was already too late.
“There’s still one over there!”
One of them suddenly pointed at Bai Xue.
“Don’t let any of them go!”
Several people turned their gazes toward her at the same time.
Lin Hao’s pupils shrank.
“Hey!”
He rushed out directly, stomping hard enough to shake the ground.
“What do you think you’re doing to my junior?”
A punch came straight at him.
Lin Hao did not dodge.
He caught the opponent’s wrist with one hand and pressed it down. His other hand had already landed against the opponent’s abdomen.
Bang.
That did not feel like a punch.
It was more like an iron hammer smashing directly into the stomach.
The opponent’s spine arched violently, his eyes instantly losing focus. His body could no longer stay standing, and his knee smashed directly into the ground.
Lin Hao did not let him fall far.
He grabbed the opponent’s wrist, stepped inward, pressed in with his shoulder, and flipped the man sideways.
Root-Collapse Throw.
Bang!
The man’s back hit the ground, and his body bounced once. Just as he tried to get up, Lin Hao’s knee was already pressing down on his shoulder, his wrist twisted behind his back.
“I said…”
Lin Hao looked down at him.
“Don’t go over there.”
The man clenched his teeth from the pain, but he could not get up at all.
Another person rushed in from the side, raising his leg to kick Lin Hao’s waist.
Lin Hao’s eyes turned cold. He released the man on the ground and cut inward, denying the opponent enough space to fully extend the kick. His lead foot intercepted the opponent’s stepping line, and his shoulder crashed in.
Bang.
The opponent was forced backward.
Lin Hao did not stop. His fists followed immediately.
First punch to the abdomen.
The opponent folded.
The second punch scraped past the guard and forced his head upward.
Then Lin Hao’s footwork turned. A feint flickered, and his leg rose from below.
Jaw-Lifting Kick.
Pak!
The opponent’s chin was struck. His eyes immediately scattered, and his whole body tilted backward.
Lin Hao grabbed his collar and did not let him fly away. He pulled down, locked the arm, and forced the man to kneel.
“Enough.”
His voice sank.
“If you move again, I really won’t hold back.”
In that instant, a scene flashed through his mind.
Yeqing being thrown over the edge.
Her hand falling through the air.
And him, one step too late.
That feeling of failing to catch someone stabbed into his palm like a needle.
His fingers slowly tightened.
No.
There could not be a second time.
Lin Hao raised his head.
He did not look at the enemy first. Instead, he spoke.
“…Xiao Xue.”
Bai Xue froze slightly.
“Stand behind me.”
His voice was not loud.
But it was steady.
Only then did he look forward.
“You’re not getting through.”
The air fell silent for an instant.
The Wind Wander Society members paused.
Someone whispered:
“…That guy, just now…”
Another person’s face darkened.
“Something’s wrong.”
The leader stepped forward, his eyes changing.
“Take him down first.”
Lin Hao did not retreat.
He stood in front of Bai Xue, shoulders lowered, fists slowly clenching.
“What I hate most…”
He stepped forward.
“…is people like you.”
The first person rushed up.
Lin Hao directly closed the distance. His shoulder sank, and his upward elbow drove inward.
Thud.
The opponent’s body instantly stiffened. His breath caught in his chest, and his whole body seemed to be nailed in place.
Before he could fall, Lin Hao had already turned.
The second person attacked from the side.
Lin Hao did not retreat. He raised his arm, and the point of his elbow directly met the opponent’s elbow.
A dull sound rang out.
The man’s movement broke on the spot. His whole arm dropped, and his face turned instantly pale.
The third person stopped halfway through his charge.
He looked at the two people who had been taken down in front of him, then looked at Lin Hao.
He did not move again.
He took one step back.
Then turned and ran.
The atmosphere emptied in an instant.
Lin Hao did not chase.
But his shoulder line was still tense, and the tip of his foot had already pressed forward slightly.
Yeqing walked over and stopped beside him. She glanced toward the direction those people fled and said nothing.
Gu Chengyuan also slowly walked back. At his feet lay someone he had locked down so thoroughly that the man did not dare move.
He looked down.
“How long are you planning to lie there? The bell is about to ring.”
The man immediately scrambled backward.
Gu Chengyuan laughed once and did not chase.
Lin Hao did not answer either. He only slowly relaxed his hand.
But his gaze had not yet withdrawn.
Yeqing looked at him and was silent for a moment.
“It’s okay now.”
Her voice was not loud.
But it was steady.
Lin Hao did not move.
But his fingers loosened.
At that instant, a voice dropped from behind them.
“Hey, hey, hey.”
The tone was light, like someone trying to stop people from making more trouble.
“Lin Hao.”
Lin Hao’s steps stopped.
His whole body stiffened for a moment before he slowly turned back.
The person who came was none other than Aji.
His hands were in his pockets as he walked over slowly, as if he really had only been passing by. Sunlight fell across his shoulders. He looked loose and careless, but those who had still been able to grit their teeth and charge earlier all subconsciously took a step back.
“Once it’s done, it’s done.”
He glanced at the people on the ground, his tone very casual.
“You protected the person.”
He paused.
“Don’t beat them to death.”
The air instantly fell silent.
Yeqing’s pupils shrank slightly.
“…Brother Aji.”
Lin Hao breathed a sigh of relief.
“Brother Aji.”
Gu Chengyuan stood nearby, looking at Aji with one eyebrow slightly raised.
“Aji…”
He paused.
“Uncle, not… brother?”
Lin Hao froze.
“Huh?”
Yeqing shot Gu Chengyuan a look.
“Shut up.”
The Wind Wander Society members stood in place. No one dared move.
One of them stared at Aji, his face slowly turning pale, his voice pressed very low.
“Chair… chairman…!”
The next second, Lin Hao, Yeqing, and Gu Chengyuan all froze at the same time.
“…Chairman?”
The atmosphere changed.
All the chaos from earlier vanished, leaving only an indescribable pressure.
Aji scratched his head and smiled helplessly.
“Hey, I’m already the former chairman.”
He paused.
“That title is from the past.”
After saying that, he shrugged, his tone returning to that usual lazy looseness.
“Now, I’m just a wandering traveler.”
Gu Chengyuan added from the side:
“You left one part out.”
Lin Hao turned his head.
“What?”
Gu Chengyuan said flatly:
“A wandering street vendor.”
Lin Hao suddenly understood.
“Ohhh!”
Yeqing directly rolled her eyes.
These two…
Aji glanced at them and could not be bothered.
His gaze returned to the Wind Wander Society members.
His tone was still light.
But it was different now.
“You people. Why are you attacking others for no reason?”
He paused.
“Did you use the rules I wrote back then to level a wobbly table?”
The Wind Wander Society members froze and looked at one another.
One of them spoke in a small voice.
“It was… Big Sis who said so.”
Aji’s eyes moved slightly.
The man swallowed and continued:
“She said we could act according to our own judgment.”
“And… someone tipped us off. They said those three stole an old woman’s jade pendant.”
The air went quiet for an instant.
Aji slowly spoke.
His tone was still calm.
“Someone?”
The man lowered his head.
Aji asked again:
“Who was that person?”
No one answered.
“Where do they live?”
Still no answer.
“What’s their name?”
The scene became even quieter.
Aji looked at them. His final sentence fell slowly.
“Did you ask?”
The man’s face stiffened.
After a long silence, he finally said in a low voice:
“…No.”
Aji did not immediately scold him.
He only looked at him.
The less he scolded, the heavier the pressure became.
After a while, he finally spoke casually.
“I’ll go ask Lin Jing clearly.”
The air stopped.
Lin Hao, Yeqing, and Gu Chengyuan all froze at the same time.
“…Teacher Lin Jing?”
The three of them almost spoke at once.
Their eyes all changed.
Bai Xue stood to the side, her fingers tightening slightly.
Lin Jing?
But she did not speak.
She only stood there quietly.
Aji glanced at them and did not explain. He only added lightly:
“That person probably gave some careless instruction.”
His tone was very light, as if he were talking about something unimportant.
But no one present felt it was light.
Aji turned his gaze toward one of the Wind Wander Society members.
“Hey, you. Come here.”
The man hesitated for an instant, but still walked over.
Aji looked at him.
“Go back and explain everything clearly to your Big Sis.”
He paused.
“Don’t pass messages carelessly.”
The man did not even dare nod too hard.
“…Yes.”
Lin Hao was still processing what had just been said.
He turned to Gu Chengyuan.
“Ah Yuan, Brother Aji… has something to do with Teacher Lin Jing?”
Gu Chengyuan looked at him, his tone casual.
“A lot to do with her.”
Lin Hao’s eyes lit up.
“Wow. Then you’ve got another rival.”
Gu Chengyuan was silent for one second.
“…This one doesn’t count as a rival.”
He paused, and his tone became unusually serious.
“This one is even more troublesome than a rival.”
Yeqing frowned.
“What exactly is their relationship? Hurry up and say it.”
Gu Chengyuan looked at her, then at Lin Hao, as if he had been waiting to see their reactions.
“The two of them…”
He paused.
“They’re not ex-lovers.”
Lin Hao’s eyes instantly widened.
Yeqing’s brows also furrowed.
The corner of Gu Chengyuan’s mouth lifted slightly.
“They’re siblings.”
The air died for one second.
Lin Hao: “…Huh?”
Yeqing: “Siblings?”
Gu Chengyuan nodded.
“Yep. That’s exactly the face you’re making right now.”
He paused, then added flatly:
“I was the same at first.”
Bai Xue stood nearby, quietly watching the scene.
The classifications in her notebook, which had originally seemed clear, now seemed to have gained another item that could not be organized.
Aji.
Former chairman of the Wind Wander Society.
Lin Jing’s older brother.
And Lin Hao, Yeqing, and Gu Chengyuan did not seem to be the ordinary students she had thought they were either.
The campus was still the same campus.
The sports field was still noisy. People still passed through the corridors. In the distance, the school bell rang at that very moment.
But Bai Xue knew.
From this moment on, her mission had become even more troublesome.46Please respect copyright.PENANAKYPf0s84nu
