東鶴舊城裡，望月家曾是人人敬重的刀術道場。可隨著新商區擴建、外地商人湧入，舊街的生意一間間換了招牌，望月家的帳本也漸漸被紅字填滿。

望月瀧原本只是個愛在河邊釣魚、嘴上嫌麻煩，卻總是先動手的人。直到她發現家裡快撐不下去，才偷偷走進公會，掛上一塊「初心」勇者牌，開始接下送貨、採集、巡夜這些不起眼的小委託。

她以為自己只是想賺錢守住道場。可在一次次任務中，她遇見了把人生都算成分數的外地少年雷諾，也看見了這座城市正在改變：有人被規矩擋在門外，有人被「外人」兩個字逼得無路可退。

當那塊藏了數月的勇者牌出現在望月家的飯桌上時，瀧終於明白——她真正想守住的，也許不只是這個家，而是整座舊城裡那些還不肯熄滅的燈。
