赤燄醒來時，身上沒有傷，記憶卻像被火燒空。

他被安置在天界邊境的小屋，由一名看似溫和可靠、其實滿嘴標準流程的鏡族青年照看。

所有人都告訴他：你很幸運，你被救回來了。

可赤燄不記得自己為何瀕死。 不記得是誰救了他。 也不記得胸口深處那一點陌生的光，究竟從何而來。

他只知道，自己必須學會像一個「能被天界接受的人」那樣活著。

而核心天界太美了。 乾淨、明亮、富足、溫柔，所有苦難都像被妥善收進看不見的地方。 只要赤燄足夠強、足夠乖、足夠耀眼，他就能走進光裡，成為眾人期待的英雄。

但光越亮，影子越深。

一盞無人知曉的燈，仍在暗處替他照著回來的路。
