Chapter 4: The Man with the Silver Watch

Aisha's heart hammered against her chest.

The tall figure stepped out of the fog.

His long black coat swayed in the cold wind.

And in his hand...

A silver watch.

The same silver watch mentioned in the letter.

"Do not trust the man with the silver watch."

Aisha took a step back.

The man stopped a few feet away.

He looked old, but his eyes seemed strangely young.

"You shouldn't be here," he said calmly.

"Who are you?" Aisha demanded.

The man ignored the question.

Instead, he glanced at the abandoned tracks.

"They are waking up."

A chill crawled through Aisha's body.

"Who?"

The man looked toward the darkness beyond the station.

"The passengers."

Before Aisha could ask another question, a loud metallic sound echoed through the station.

CLANG!

The old signal pole suddenly moved by itself.

The man checked his silver watch.

His face turned pale.

"No..."

"What is happening?" Aisha asked.

The stranger grabbed her arm.

"We must leave. Now."

But before they could move, a train whistle shattered the silence.

WOOOOOOOOOO!

A train slowly emerged from the fog.

Its rusty wheels screeched against the tracks.

Its windows were dark.

Yet silhouettes stood inside.

Watching.

Waiting.

Aisha froze.

The train shouldn't exist.

The tracks ended miles away.

The train rolled to a stop.

Its doors creaked open.

No one stepped out.

Instead, a voice echoed from inside.

"Aisha..."

Her blood ran cold.

It was Arif's voice.

"Aisha... help me..."

Tears filled her eyes.

"Arif!"

She started running toward the train.

The man with the silver watch blocked her path.

"No!" he shouted.

"That's not your brother."

The voice came again.

This time sounding desperate.

"Aisha... please..."

For a moment, she almost believed it.

Then she noticed something terrifying.

The shadows inside the train weren't moving like people.

Their heads twisted unnaturally.

Their bodies bent at impossible angles.

And dozens of glowing eyes stared from the darkness.

The train wasn't carrying passengers.

It was carrying something else.

Something pretending to be human.

Suddenly, all the station clocks began ringing at once.

DING! DING! DING!

The train whistle screamed.

The doors slammed shut.

And the entire train vanished into the fog as if it had never been there.

Silence returned.

Aisha stood frozen.

The man slowly turned toward her.

"You saw them."

Aisha nodded.

Her voice barely worked.

"What are they?"

The stranger stared at the tracks.

Then he whispered:

"They are the ones who never reached the other side."

Before Aisha could ask what he meant, she noticed something lying on the ground where the train had stopped.

A torn photograph.

She picked it up.

The picture showed a young boy standing beside the railway station.

A boy who looked exactly like Arif.

On the back, written in faded ink, were four chilling words:

HE RETURNS ON JUNE 12

The date was only ten days away.
