在這個世界觀裡，每個宇宙都有邊界。

邊界內有時間、空間、生命、死亡與因果等規則；邊界外則是被稱為「虛」的無規則空間。

虛並非空無，而是充滿龐大的原始能量。普通物質無法承受虛，只有靈魂這類能量能短暫穿過宇宙牆壁。

因此，穿越者的能力並非憑空獲得，而是靈魂穿越邊界時接觸虛能量後，被改寫、強化或污染所形成的結果。

宇宙與宇宙之間沒有絕對固定的位置。不同宇宙觀測彼此時，會得到不同方向與相位。多重宇宙彼此差異巨大，平行世界則可能出現同源存在；當同源存在被確認時，便可能形成彎曲而危險的「平行鏈」。
