Dear Jessica,
Regular degular day today.
I’m not even saying that in a dramatic way. It was just… school. The kind of day where nothing huge happens, but you still go home feeling like your brain got microwaved.
Lunch was the usual routine: me on the Lost and Found box, Judy next to me, and handball happening in the background like it’s a permanent soundtrack. Jensen was in the library again, which is fine, but also annoying because I like when he’s there to witness the chaos with me.
Speaking of chaos—Thalia and Lilly were in one of their little whisper moods. Not full-on drama, but you could tell they were aiming their comments at someone like they were throwing darts. I didn’t even try to decode who it was about. I just kept talking to Judy about comics and how school feels like a place adults invented so kids can’t be at home making messes.
In class, we did this worksheet that was basically: “Write three paragraphs about something you don’t care about.” I tried to make it fun in my head by pretending I was you, giving the assignment a constellation name. Like:
The Boredom Bucket
The Homework Hydra
The Rubric of Doom
Judy laughed when I told her, so that was a win.
After school, Jensen and I walked home together. He told me the library was “peaceful” and I told him that’s suspicious, because school shouldn’t be peaceful. We stopped by the bakery, and I didn’t buy anything, but I looked at the bread and thought of you anyway.
Best,
Teagain
