I finally got the lifepod repaired, only to realize there was a radio and a medical kit fabricator on board this whole time. The fabricator takes some time to automatically generate a first-aid patch. If you don't take it out, it just sits there at a capacity of one; it's not like it'll keep pumping them out until I have enough to open a pharmacy. What a shame.
Not long after fixing the radio, I picked up a distress signal from Lifepod 3. Since I have the means to swim a bit further out now, I figured I’d go check it out. When I reached the coordinates provided by the AI, I didn't see a soul. The area was rich in resources and still relatively shallow. Could they have relocated somewhere else? Inside the pod's wreckage, I found the survivor's PDA. Personally, I always keep my tablet glued to my side... so seeing this left behind didn't feel like a good sign.
After the AI downloaded the data, I read through it. It looks like they might not be survivors anymore. They had decided to modify their battery to give their Seaglide more range. But on my way here, I could swear I scanned some Seaglide debris. Don't tell me it exploded... I searched the area for any usable tech and found a compass blueprint, along with enough Seaglide fragments to piece together a complete blueprint.
Just when I thought I might have companions, I'm all alone again.
Guess I'll head back to my own pod and craft an underwater propulsion vehicle—a Seaglide of my own.
With more and more electrical gear piling up, my anxiety is growing. Acid mushrooms and coral aren't everywhere, and they aren't exactly easy to track down either. Now even the Seaglide is eating through power. Is there no such thing as a battery charger in this world?
After combing through the crates scattered all over the place, I managed to piece together the blueprint for a laser cutter. I initially wanted to use it to mine ore or break open unbroken crates, but no luck on either front. Its functionality is pretty limited—it can only burn through sealed doors.
Alright, no use complaining. Being able to open doors means I can scan more technology. Give myself a little pat on the back for that.
To conserve power, I started considering building mini-bases throughout my exploration areas, complete with a few extra storage lockers. I could use the local resources to expand the construction, and when it came time to abandon the outpost, I could do one final, massive haul. It sounded like a brilliant plan.
But tragedy struck sooner than expected. The moment I left the new outpost, I couldn't find my way back to it... Oh, good grief. Let's put the "off-site expansion plan" on hold for now. At the very least, I need some kind of beacon or locator so I can actually find my way back to new site.
After wrapping up my latest salvage run, I noticed the radio had another message waiting. This one was from Lifepod 17. With a waypoint provided, at least I wouldn't get lost. Speaking of which, once you actually find a location, the AI's waypoint disappears. I'd better do a thorough, grid-by-grid search of the area the moment I arrive.

Lifepod 17 was located in a shallow area just past an underwater ridge. Its hull was breached. It had been attacked. According to the data on the PDA, the victim was nearly crushed by a Seamoth—one of the small submersibles ejected from the mothership. They were lucky to survive that impact, but a ruptured hull is a whole different level of serious. Even though I’ve been blown up, rammed, and sprayed with venom over the past few days, no creature has actually broken into my lifepod yet. I started searching the vicinity to see what kind of technology I could salvage.
I finally found the blueprint for a beacon! And fragments for the Seamoth, too. Unfortunately, completing the Seamoth blueprint doesn't do me much good right now; it looks like I need a Mobile Vehicle Bay to actually build it. However, that cave system right next to it looks incredibly tempting... what's inside? It’s practically making my mouth water.
I think I’ll risk heading back to craft a beacon before exploring it. Even without an AI waypoint, I can at least rely on the relative bearings from my compass to get back here. I'll return to my pod, grab my tools, and come back to build a compartment. A beacon won't just help me find my way back during transport runs—when I dive deep into that dark cave, it'll at least guide me toward the surface when I need to breathe.
