Chapter 60: The New Melody
One Year Later. The city was vibrant, a tapestry of life moving to a rhythm that was steady and safe. The violet rifts were a forgotten myth, and the name "Void King" existed nowhere but in the deepest, most hidden corners of three girls' minds.Konone and Mahiru stood on the roof of the high school, the wind whipping through their hair. They weren't wearing school uniforms; they wore the mantle of the Blazing Guardians. Though the Heart Cards were gone, a residual spark of the flame and the light remained within them—a gift, or perhaps a responsibility, left behind by the reboot."Anything on the radar?" Konone asked, her eyes scanning the horizon."All clear," Mahiru replied, closing a digital map on her tablet. "The city is at peace. Just like she wanted."Konone looked down at her hand. A faint violet spark danced between her fingers before she tucked it away. "We’ll keep it that way. In her honor. We're the only ones who can."Down in the residential district, Shino Koko walked toward the familiar blue awning of the neighborhood restaurant. She stopped when she saw Yui’s mother outside, sitting on a bench and cradling a small bundle wrapped in a soft pink blanket. The woman looked up and beamed, her face glowing with a new kind of happiness."Oh, hello again!" the mother called out. "You're the pianist, aren't you? My husband and I saw your poster for the gala tonight.""I am," Koko said, stepping closer, her heart hammering. "She’s beautiful. May I ask... have you decided on a name?"The mother looked down at the sleeping infant, her eyes softening with a deep, instinctual love. "It’s strange, really. We had so many names picked out, but the moment she was born, only one felt right. We’re naming her Yui."Koko felt a sob catch in her throat, but she forced a smile—a real, genuine smile that reached her eyes. "It’s a perfect name. It means 'helpful' and 'bound together.' I think she’ll grow up to be someone very special."That evening, the grand concert hall was packed. The elite of the music world sat in hushed anticipation as Shino Koko walked onto the stage. She adjusted her gown, sat at the piano, and looked at her steady, capable hands. She didn't look at the judges. She didn't look at the audience. She looked at the single empty seat in the front row where a blue ribbon had been tied to the armrest."This is for you," Koko whispered into the silence. She began to play. It wasn't a piece by Bach or Beethoven. It was a new composition—a melody that started with the ferocity of a storm and ended with the gentleness of a summer breeze. It was a song of fire, light, and speed. It was the song of a friend who had given up the world to save it.As the final, haunting note drifted into the rafters, Koko looked up. For a split second, she thought she saw a flicker of emerald light in the back of the hall—a girl with a bright smile waving goodbye. The world was at peace. The music was playing. And for the first time, the song was finally complete.[THE END]12Please respect copyright.PENANAKKloxqzJyy
