High above, the Void King stood at the epicenter of a swirling vortex of violet energy. He was no longer just a king; he was a conductor of a symphony of nothingness. He was so focused on the ritual, his back turned to the ruins below, that he didn't notice the two blurs of light ascending the outer walls of the tower.
"We have one shot," Konone hissed, her Blazing Fire boots leaving scorched footprints on the vertical metal. "Yui, when I move, you go for the card. Don't look back."
"Got it," Yui replied. Her voice lacked its usual bubbly chime. It was flat, determined, and strangely distant.
"Blazing Heart... OVERDRIVE!"
Konone erupted into a pillar of violet flames, launching herself directly at the King’s back. The King spun around, his metronome mask clicking at a frantic pace. He raised his hand, summoning a massive wall of dark energy to intercept her.
"Foolish girl," the King rumbled. "You throw your life away for a rhythm that is already dead!"
"I'm not throwing it away!" Konone roared, her sword clashing against his shield with a shower of sparks that illuminated the entire sky. "I’m making a distraction!"
In that split second, Yui moved. She didn't use a flashy attack. She used the silence. She slipped through the shadows of the King's own mantle, her small frame becoming a blue streak of desperation. She lunged, her fingers closing around the Card of Speed that hovered near the King’s heart.
"I HAVE IT!" Yui screamed.
But the King was faster than they imagined. Even as he held Konone back with one hand, a jagged spike of violet glass erupted from his chest—a physical manifestation of the Void's malice.
SHINK.
The spike pierced through Yui’s side, shattering the blue crystal of her armor. A gasp of pure agony escaped her lips. Blood, dark and real, splattered onto the obsidian floor. Despite the searing pain, Yui didn't let go. She ripped the card away from the King’s aura, the emerald glow fighting against the violet stain.
"YUI!" Konone screamed, but she was blown back by a sudden burst of gravity from the King.
Yui tumbled over the edge of the high platform. She fell through the air, a broken blue bird clutching a stolen treasure. She hit the debris at the base of the tower with a sickening thud, the emerald card still locked in her trembling hand.
The King looked down from his perch, his armor cracked but his presence still looming. "You have the note," he sneered, "but you have no one left to play it."
On the ground, Yui lay in the ash, her breathing shallow and wet. The Card of Speed pulsed in her hand, but as the blood soaked into the card’s surface, the emerald light didn't just return—it flickered with a strange, haunting hue that no one noticed in the chaos.16Please respect copyright.PENANAijkSVGEDZf
