Different cities.

Same blank expressions.

Same sudden emotional detachment.

And no one understood why.

Dr. Meera rushed through the underground archive room, searching through damaged files desperately.

Pages scattered across the floor.

Most documents were fragmented.

But one symbol appeared again and again:

A black circle with a tiny white gap in the center.

Below it—

two words:

Meera’s heartbeat quickened.

She opened another file.

Meera felt cold.

Meanwhile, Officer Raghav sat inside an empty motel room with Subject 07 across from him.

Rain tapped against the windows continuously.

Then suddenly—

Raghav blinked.

Like reality skipped.

He grabbed the edge of the table tightly.

“How long?” he asked quietly.

Raghav glared at him.

Silence.

Raghav looked away.

“…Today.”

Subject 07 lowered his eyes slightly.

“That’s early.”

Raghav stood up angrily.

“Stop talking like you understand this!”

His voice echoed sharply through the room.

But Subject 07 remained calm.

Too calm.

“You think the sound changes people,” he said softly.

A pause.

Then—

“But it only opens what’s already empty.”

Raghav’s expression hardened.

“What does that even mean?”

Subject 07 looked toward the rain-covered window.

For the first time—

his voice carried exhaustion.

“People believe identity is stable.”

“But it isn’t.”

Another pause.

Longer this time.

“Most minds already contain unfinished parts.”

“Unfelt emotions.”

“Unwanted thoughts.”

“Disconnected memories.”

His eyes darkened slightly.

“The signal simply gives those parts space to move.”

Raghav suddenly felt cold.

Because deep down—

part of him understood.

⚠️ The Broadcast

Without warning—

the motel television turned on by itself.

Static flooded the screen.

Then an emergency broadcast appeared.

But something was wrong with it.

The announcer sat completely still.

No blinking.

No emotion.

“Please remain calm,” the announcer said flatly.

“The recent behavioral incidents are under investigation.”

Then—

for one frame—

the screen distorted.

A black circle flashed briefly.

The same symbol Meera found in the files.

Subject 07 stood instantly.

“No…”

Raghav turned sharply.

“What?”

Subject 07’s expression changed for the first time in months.

Fear.

Real fear.

“They’re using the carriers.”

The announcer continued speaking calmly.

Too calmly.

“For public reassurance, an audio stabilization tone will now play.”

Raghav’s blood ran cold.

“No…”

The speaker crackled softly.

Static hissed.

And across the entire city—

through televisions, radios, phones, and public screens—

the sound played.

DING… DONG.

Everything stopped.

Cars halted mid-road.

People froze in grocery stores.

Conversations died instantly.

Raghav felt his thoughts split violently for one terrifying second.

Memories flooded through him— some his own, some not.

He saw:

dark hallways

empty faces

doors opening slowly

blood on white floors

Then silence.

Absolute silence.

The motel lights flickered weakly.

Raghav dropped to one knee, breathing hard.

“What… was that…”

Slowly—

he looked up.

And realized something horrifying.

Subject 07 was staring directly at him.

Not calmly.

Not emptily.

But carefully.

Like he was watching for signs.

“What?” Raghav whispered.

Subject 07 spoke very quietly.

“You answered the signal.”

Outside—

the city slowly began moving again.

But differently.

People walked with strange stillness now.

Expressions muted.

Voices softer.

And deep beneath the noise of the recovering streets—

millions of minds carried the same invisible echo.

Growing.

Connecting.

Waiting.
