2006年，南迴線402次列車翻覆，十四人罹難。死者之一——越南新娘阿紅，被發現時手中緊握一枚家鄉銅錢。

警方高振邦小隊長與鑑識員林予欣追查發現，這是一起為詐領七千萬保險金而策劃的搞軌案。主謀是阿紅的丈夫黃泰銘，以及他的哥哥黃泰元。但黃泰銘已墜谷身亡，所有證據指向黃泰元——一個對阿紅有著複雜情感、卻親手將她送上死亡列車的男人。
