The Helios Group ballroom felt even more suffocating to Si-woo after the incident on the terrace. The image of Byeol-ha, curled up with her hands over her ears, and the sound of that small whimper of pain wouldn't leave his mind. For the first time in years, he couldn't focus on market metrics or shareholder handshakes.
The next day, in his penthouse office at the company, Si-woo stared at his tablet. On the screen, the guest list from the previous night was open, but his eyes kept searching for just one surname.
"Do-hyun and Ji-yoon..." he muttered to himself, his fingers tapping rhythmically on the glass desk. "And where is her record?"
The door opened and Jerry walked in, carrying a printed report and a worried expression.
"Director Kang, the data on the foreign investor you requested is ready. But... I noticed you also requested the Han family background check. Was there an issue with them at the event?"
Si-woo looked up, his usual cold and impenetrable expression returning to his face.
"Jerry, the Han family omitted a member from the official records sent to our public relations desk. I want the full name, medical history, and any mention of 'Byeol-ha Han'."
Jerry blinked, surprised.
"The younger sister? Director, the family usually keeps her out of the spotlight. They say she is... unstable."
"I don't pay you to bring me rumors, Jerry," Si-woo’s voice cut through the air like a blade. "Get the facts. I want to know exactly what that family is hiding behind that perfect facade."
