Aanya couldn’t feel her hands.

They were still holding Meera…

but it felt like she was holding nothing.

“Wake up…” she whispered.

Her voice was hollow.

Broken.

The house was silent again.

As if nothing had happened.

As if Meera’s life hadn’t just been taken.

“This isn’t real…” Aanya said, shaking her head. “This can’t be real…”

But Meera didn’t move.

Didn’t breathe.

Something inside Aanya collapsed.

A scream tore out of her throat.

Loud.

People walked.

Cars moved.

Life continued.

Too normal.

Aanya looked at her hands again.

Still remembering.

I killed her.

The thought hit her like a blade.

“No…” she whispered. “I didn’t… I didn’t choose…”

The voice.

Aanya froze.

Slowly—

She turned around.

The street behind her was empty.

But the feeling remained.

She wasn’t alone.

That night—

Aanya locked her door.

Closed her windows.

Turned on every light.

She sat in the corner of her room, knees pulled close.

Afraid to blink.

Afraid to think.

“This is over…” she whispered. “It’s done… I survived…”

Silence.

Then—

A sound.

Aanya’s breath stopped.

Slowly…

Very slowly…

She turned her head.

And her heart dropped.

The chair.

It stood in the corner of her room.

The same dark wood.

The same silent presence.

“No…” Aanya whispered, shaking her head violently. “No, no, no—you can’t be here…”

But it was.

It had followed her.

The air turned cold.

The lights flickered.

And then—

“It does not end with one.”

Aanya’s eyes filled with terror.

“What do you mean…?” she whispered.

The shadow formed again.

Darker than before.

Closer.

“A life was taken.”

“Your future was changed.”

Aanya’s voice broke. “Then it’s over… right?”

Silence.

Then—

“Balance must be maintained.”

Her heart stopped.

“No…”

“You live.”

“Another must fall.”

Aanya backed away, her entire body shaking.

“No! I won’t do it again—I can’t!”

The shadow moved closer.

“You already have.”

Her mind flashed—

The message.

The decision.

The moment she chose survival.

Tears streamed down her face.

“I didn’t know…”

“Now you do.”

The chair creaked softly.

Inviting.

Waiting.

“Sit again.”

Aanya screamed, covering her ears.

“No! I won’t sit on that thing again!”

But deep inside—

She understood something far worse.

She didn’t need to sit again.

It had already begun.

The game wasn’t over.

It was only getting started.

And this time—

She knew the truth.

No matter what she did…
