The smoke from the nitroglycerin flask cleared, revealing the Noble’s son curled in a soot-stained heap, his pride and his power shattered alongside his father’s sapphire. The "Social Hypnosis" that had held Shinkawa in a chokehold dissolved like mist under a summer sun.
Across the square, a strange collective shudder went through the crowd. Guards dropped their spears, blinking as if waking from a long, feverish dream. Rika’s parents slumped in their ornate chairs, their eyes finally losing that terrifying, fixed glaze.
The Awakening of the House
"Rika...?" Lord Valerius whispered, rubbing his temples as he stood up with shaky legs. He looked at the chaos, the silver fire, and his daughter standing in a torn wedding dress, holding the hand of the local baker.
Rika didn't wait for an explanation. She ran to the balcony, Mark right at her side. She didn't look like a brainwashed doll anymore; she looked like the storm that had broken the dragon of the Cinder Peaks.
"It's over, Father," Rika said, her voice echoing with the authority of an S-Rank Legend. "The Dravens used you. They used all of us. But Shinkawa doesn't belong to them."
The townspeople, seeing their rulers return to normal and the "Perfect Bride" standing defiant, began to cheer—not the hollow, forced cheers from before, but a roar of genuine relief.
The Reckoning
Kaelan and Elara climbed onto the dais, their weapons finally lowered. Kaelan signaled the town’s local militia—those who hadn't been fully turned—to take the Dravens into custody.
"Their 'Social Hypnosis' is a crime against the Crown," Kaelan stated firmly as the guards hauled the sobbing Noble's son away. "The Guild will be notified. They won't be seeing the light of day for a very long time."
Elara walked over to Rika, placing a hand on her shoulder. The silver light in Elara's eyes was soft now, reflecting the sunlight off the bay. "You did it, Rika. You broke the strongest anchor of all—the one built on your own heart."
The Promise under the Jasmine Tree
Later that evening, the town square was being cleaned, but the celebration continued in a smaller, quieter way. At the back of the Kurugawa Bakery, away from the prying eyes of the Nobles and the Guild, Rika and Mark sat under a blooming jasmine tree.
Rika had changed out of the ruined wedding gown into her old, comfortable alchemist’s leathers. She looked at Mark, who was still trying to process the fact that he had shouted his love for her in front of the entire town.
"You really meant it?" Rika asked, her voice small. "About Robert? About... me?"
Mark turned to her, his face turning a bright shade of red, but he didn't look away. "Every word. I spent fourteen years being afraid that I wasn't the one you wanted to see when you looked back. I thought I was just the survivor. But today... when I saw you standing there, not knowing who you were... I realized I’d rather die like Robert did than live another day without telling you the truth."
Rika leaned her head on his shoulder, the scent of jasmine and fresh bread surrounding them. "Robert saved our lives, Mark. But today, you saved my soul. I think he’d be happy that it was you."
The Next Horizon
At the edge of the canal, Elara and Kaelan watched the sunset. The white star-crests on their shoulders glowed with a gentle, synchronized light.
"So," Kaelan said, looking at Elara. "Our alchemist has her home back. And her baker."
"She’s staying for a while," Elara nodded. "She needs to help her parents rebuild the town's wards. But she told me she'll keep her Guild card active. If we ever face something like the Demon King again, she’ll be ready."
"And us?" Kaelan asked.
Elara looked toward the North, where the real stars were beginning to peek through the twilight. "There are still legends out there, Kaelan. Still people who need a Knight and a Weaver. But for tonight..."
She leaned into him, her blonde hair catching the last rays of the sun. "For tonight, let's just be Kaelan and Elara."
