The disturbance hit Mira like a snapped thread in the air.

She stopped mid-sentence in the Slytherin common room, her teal eyes unfocusing suddenly.

Around her, the low murmur of evening conversation continued for another few seconds before Draco noticed her expression.

“Mira?”

She rose immediately.

Something deep beneath Hogwarts pulsed uneasily.

Not dark magic.

Pain.

Fear.

Wild magic in distress.

“The forest,” she said quietly.

Draco stood at once.

By the time they reached the corridor, Mira was already moving quickly toward the Defense classroom.

Snape looked thoroughly unimpressed when the doors burst open.

Alaric Silverthorne, however, took one look at Mira’s face and immediately straightened from where he had been reviewing papers.

“What happened?”

“There’s something in the Forbidden Forest,” Mira said. “It feels wrong.”

Snape’s eyes narrowed.

“You sensed this from the castle?”

“Yes.”

That alone was enough.

Alaric was already reaching for his wand.

“Let’s move.”

The Forbidden Forest was colder than the castle grounds.

Spring had arrived at Hogwarts, but beneath the ancient trees, winter still lingered in the shadows.

Terron emerged from the darkness like moonlight given form.

The massive male Siege Stag lowered himself slightly, allowing Mira to climb onto his back. His silver-brown coat gleamed faintly beneath the trees, enormous antlers branching like living crowns.

Draco mounted behind her with practiced ease.

Nearby, Zirael appeared from swirling white mist.

Snape stared at the enormous Zouwu with visible suspicion.

The celestial beast blinked at him innocently.

“I refuse to believe this creature is remotely safe,” Snape said flatly.

“He likes you,” Alaric replied.

“That concerns me more.”

Draco snorted quietly.

Zirael made a sound halfway between a chirp and a growl before allowing Alaric and a deeply reluctant Snape onto his back.

Then the beasts ran.

The forest blurred around them.

Terron moved with impossible speed, powerful legs barely seeming to touch the earth as Mira held onto his fur. Draco’s arms steadied around her waist while wind tore through the trees.

Ahead, Terron suddenly slowed.

Mira felt it then.

The fear.

Closer now.

Not one creature.

Many.

And blood.

They broke through a clearing—

—and chaos exploded around them.

A female Siege Stag stood cornered near a rocky ridge, breathing hard, golden fur streaked with dirt and blood. Unlike Terron, she bore no antlers, but there was power in her stance despite exhaustion.

Around her stood six cloaked poachers.

Iron nets crackled with dark enchantments.

One man raised a crossbow tipped with cursed silver.

“NOW!” Mira shouted.

Terron roared.

Not a deer’s cry.

Something older.

Something wild.

The clearing erupted.

Draco fired first.

“Expulso!”

The nearest poacher slammed backward into a tree.

Snape moved like black smoke.

His curses were precise, brutal, efficient.

Wands flew from hands.

Dark ropes snapped apart.

One poacher tried lunging toward the female Siege Stag—

—and Alaric intercepted him with frightening speed.

“Protego Maxima!”

The shield charm detonated outward like thunder.

At the forest edge, centaurs burst through the trees.

Firenze led them.

Arrows flew with deadly accuracy, pinning cloaks to the ground without killing their targets.

The poachers panicked instantly.

“Retreat!”

But something moved through the trees before they could escape.

Fast.

Silent.

Beautiful.

An elven spear flashed silver in the dark.

One poacher cried out as the weapon knocked his wand clean from his hand.

A figure landed lightly atop a fallen stone.

Female.

Tall and graceful, with bronze-gold skin and silver-white hair braided tightly behind her. Strange glowing markings traced faintly across her arms like living runes.

Her armor resembled woven bark and moonlight.

And on her wrist—

a Vaelori Conduit.

Mira’s breath caught.

The elf moved again.

Impossible speed.

Her spear spun in elegant arcs that disarmed rather than killed, every movement precise and controlled.

One poacher attempted to curse her.

The spell dissolved against a shield of pale green light.

“Forest thieves,” the elf said coldly. “You poison everything you touch.”

Then she struck the earth once with her spear.

Vines exploded upward.

Enchanted roots wrapped around the remaining poachers instantly, binding them in glowing restraints that tightened whenever they struggled.

Unbreakable.

Silence fell over the clearing.

Heavy breathing.

Rustling leaves.

The female Siege Stag staggered slightly.

Mira slid from Terron immediately.

Slowly.

Carefully.

“It’s alright,” she whispered.

The creature watched her cautiously.

Terron approached first.

The massive male Siege Stag let out a low sound deep in his throat.

The female froze.

Then her ears lifted.

Recognition.

She stepped toward him slowly, touching her nose gently against Terron’s neck.

Draco blinked.

“…They know each other.”

Terron made another rumbling sound.

For the first time since arriving, the female Siege Stag visibly relaxed.

Firenze stepped forward slightly.

“They are from the same herd,” the centaur said softly. “Long separated.”

Terron remained pressed against her protectively.

Childhood friends reunited beneath moonlit trees.

Mira smiled faintly.

Then the female Siege Stag turned toward her.

Golden eyes met luminous teal.

The world seemed to still for a moment.

The creature approached slowly before lowering herself slightly before Mira—not submission.

Choice.

Bond.

The air around Mira’s bracelets and choker glowed softly.

The female Siege Stag touched her forehead gently against Mira’s hand.

A warm pulse spread through Mira’s chest.

Draco stared openly now.

“She chose you.”

Mira smiled softly, emotion catching unexpectedly in her throat.

“…Nymeria,” she whispered.

The female Siege Stag huffed quietly, as if accepting the name.

Nearby, the elven warrior watched silently.

Then she stepped forward.

The centaurs immediately shifted respectfully.

Even Firenze bowed his head slightly.

The elf planted her spear into the earth.

“I am Myraleth,” she said calmly. “Spear of the Silent Grove.”

Her amethyst eyes settled on Mira’s Vaelori Conduit.

Recognition flickered there instantly.

“You wear the old pathways,” Myraleth said softly.

Mira glanced at the bracelet on her wrist.

“You know what this is?”

“I know who made it.”

The forest wind stirred around them.

Myraleth studied Mira carefully.

Not suspicious.

Curious.

Then her gaze shifted briefly toward the bound poachers.

“You defended a Siege Stag without hesitation,” she said. “Even knowing what hunters would pay for such creatures.”

“They were hurting her,” Mira replied simply.

Something softened slightly in the Vaelori warrior’s expression.

Behind them, Snape was already inspecting the enchanted ropes restraining the poachers.

“They cannot escape,” he observed.

“They will not,” Myraleth replied evenly.

Alaric approached slowly, studying the elf with visible interest.

“The Vaelori were believed hidden.”

“We are hidden,” Myraleth corrected calmly. “Not gone.”

Silence followed that statement.

Then Nymeria stepped closer to Mira again.

Terron remained beside her protectively.

Together, the two Siege Stags looked almost mythic beneath the trees.

Ancient.

Wild.

Alive.

And for the first time in centuries—

perhaps no longer alone.
