Max sat in the cabin of the metal vehicle contemplating how he was going to explain what had happened, when both his father nor the Major had given the clearance to do what they - he and Molly- had done.... The Major. God he was afraid. Numbly, he punched the steering wheel over and over again causing such a ruckus that one of the scientists who had stepped outside for a smoke had looked over at him curiously. Max ignored him and tried to bring up his reserve before opening the door. He had to do this.
He opened the door, hopped out and and slammed it shut before trudging towards the complex. He stopped at the door as a feeling nagged at the back of his head for a brief moment. Something didn't feel quite right....
"I would chill out here for a few before going in there, mate." the scientist told him between exhaling the smoke and taking another drag off his cigarette. Max stared at him, before opening the door. Immediately, he was greeted by chaos. What the hell was going on?! The scientist exhaled his last lungful before stamping the cigarette beneath his boot. He shoved past Max uttering "Told you so." under his breath as he passed by. Curious, Max followed close behind, trying to figure out why all hell had broken loose in the short hours that they had been gone.
That he'd been gone.

"Sir" A tall, slender guard stood at attention in the entrance to the tent. He clicked his heels and saluted as the man sitting behind the desk motioned for him to come in, eyeing the Manila folder that the young man held. Eagerly, he stood and came around to the front of the desk. The guard stopped in front of him, holding out his hand. "We have found the second temple, sir, as you requested."
"Splendid news, boy!" the Man said in earnest. He practically ripped the folder in half, flipping through the images so fast the soldier couldn't keep up. "And the progress on entering the first temple?" He looked up, fixating his unnaturally blue eyes on the soldier.
"Sir, we have doubled the amount of man power at the door and expect to be inside the temple before nightfall." Although his face gave nothing away, the soldier had to suppress the shiver that went up his spine when the Man smiled a very wide and particularly toothy grin before hurrying back to his research at his cluttered desk. No one knew his name. He was simply "Sir" or "The Operator" to the other guys he had been stationed with.
"Excellent news indeed!" he laughed. "Things are moving along more swimmingly than I had planned..." He said the last part more to himself than to the soldier as he set the images down next to the others on the desk. He pulled one of the older images down-no older than a week at best- next to the new ones that he had requested. He had to keep his urge to laugh with glee down. Where there had been nothing but white clouds and snow before, there was now a perfectly giant circle in the Arctic ice. It had been under his nose this whole entire time. "How about some air, eh?" he asked outloud. The soldier stared straight ahead before saluting once more. "Ever the soldiers they have here." he mumbled to himself as he followed the young man out of the tent.
The soldier grimaced as The Operator paused next to him, inhaling deeply. He didn't know what it was about the man, but he just gave off bad vibes or Bad mojo the boys called it. The workers they had down here weren't too keen on him either. None of them would look The Operator in the face-too afraid that he was a devil and that somehow eye contact would damn their soul. The young soldier couldn't blame them really. The Operator stood much taller than he and his peers-almost taller than his commanding officers. The guy kind of gave off the impression of a devil with his contrast of raven black hair to stark white skin. His eyes didn't help....nor did his teeth.
The Operator glanced over at him. "Mr....Magins? How do you say your last name?"
"May-gens, sir." he replied.
"Well, Mr. Magins, you've proven extremely helpful to me. I would prefer your help from this point forward, and I will see to it that your Commanders know this."
"Thank you, sir." Great. Private Magins internally sighed and at the motion of The Operator, made his way back to his barrack.
The man watched young Magins move off into the distance before he removed his glasses and leaned back on the supporting pole that held up his tent. Tough crowd to please, these young soldiers were. He rubbed the bridge of his nose before looking at the progress unfolding just down the hill. In just five short weeks and an endless supply of funds, He had managed to find it-The First temple of the Lost Kingdom. All together, they were spread among the globeand almost nearly impossible to find-but He had done it. Men toiled under the mercilessly hot Amazon sun, pullling at the stone walls that sealed the entrance to his ruins. Ruins that had been covered by the surrounding foliage-buried so deep within the jungle he almost doubted himself. He felt sorry for the men slaving away in such a humidity where it practically felt like smothering to death, but he would rather it they than him.
Just as he had turned to go back into his tent, there was a great roar from below-thousands of men yelling in triumph as the rocks tumbled to the ground in a massive land slide. He spun on his heel and rushed to the edge of his hill, excitement swelling in his chest. Magins wasn't lying-the walls had been breached before nightfall! "Haha!" he clapped and cheered right along with the men. With not a moment to lose, he pulled his sat-phone from his pocket and called his men forth. They had to prepare to enter the temple-but how would he contain the excitement of stepping foot where man hadn't in over thousands upon thousands of years?

A scream echoed off the walls, waking the creature from it's slumber. Immediately it perked up to the sound, training its ears to focus on the direction of the noise. It drew in a long breath through it's nostrils, tasting the air.
Blood.

The creature rose to its feet stretching to it's full massive length before it made it's way towards the source. It had been a very long time since it had tasted anything fresh and suddenly the hunger in its belly made nothing else matter. It was hungry and ready to hunt.
