公元2330年，地球爆發了一種名為NEX-Ω的末日病毒，導致了被稱為「零號災變」的全球性大滅絕事件。人類人口驟減至不足三億，原有文明體系全面崩潰，地球正式進入新的時代——災變紀元。

起初，人類只能依靠冷兵器與熱武器防衛求生，隨著時間推移，一種能操控自然力量的特殊族群——「異能者」逐漸出現。為整合與抵抗病毒擴散，中央政府成立並設立「中央異能學院」，劃分五大異能系，致力於培育戰力。

但並非所有人都能完全掌控異能，部分人因異能與病毒共振，逐漸失控，成為介於人與喪屍之間的存在——異化者。
