前言︰少時讀書，總會升起許多疑問。為何晉惠帝會這麼笨、為何項羽不肯回江東、為何曹操一生未肯篡位、為何汪精衛會成為「漢奸」......當然課本中自有它的解釋，但是華夏歷史總是有太多的缺漏，多得使我經常都懷疑其中有諸多未有被我們發現的真相。這就是寫作這個系列的源頭。當然，這也不過是一個文字創作，並非歷史的真相或者全部。但最少，如果我能夠提出一些歷史面貌中不同的可能性，便算是達到了這些創作的基本目的。

史書盡為人所寫，歷代勝者為王敗者寇，故可觀亦不可以盡信。在那些表面的蕪菁盡去之後，留下來的可能便是我們未曾發現的可能性，故此系列名為「燼餘集」。
