168Please respect copyright.PENANAirDkma75LR
168Please respect copyright.PENANA6BQNqKxbGt
168Please respect copyright.PENANAJJnH0AmzYH
168Please respect copyright.PENANAvN7yrP037T
168Please respect copyright.PENANApfRnVM80mp
168Please respect copyright.PENANAyCbS5NvPFf
168Please respect copyright.PENANAG6ZiJ8BFq5
168Please respect copyright.PENANAE3Y9jquxFz
168Please respect copyright.PENANAu7MjXMHeIS
168Please respect copyright.PENANAOCed79Vuvi
168Please respect copyright.PENANAV2wmPqffR6
168Please respect copyright.PENANATmAAGWl1W1
168Please respect copyright.PENANA7HWoMdRud7
168Please respect copyright.PENANA26RLtwx6KE

"Hahaha! Hahaha!"
The classroom was erupting with laughter.
Yu had fallen. His knee was scraped and bleeding, looking painful. But no one went to help him. Instead, everyone was laughing, and the loudest laugh came from Kai.
Yu looked at everyone awkwardly and forced a smile, though his eyes were turning red. He scrambled to his feet, returned to his desk, and hurriedly dabbed at the blood with a tissue. He kept his head low, hiding the tears that were starting to well up.
This happened almost every day.
Dong watched Yu’s trembling back, then looked at Kai, who was repeatedly mimicking the fall. Seeing her classmates roaring with laughter, Dong’s small face tightened into a frown.
"Alright, class is starting," the teacher said, walking in. "What is everyone laughing about?"
"Yu just fell!" Kai shouted, mimicking the clumsy stumble again. "Whoosh!"
Kai’s expression was exaggerated and his movements were comical. Everyone laughed again, and even the teacher joined in.
"Yu, why were you so careless?" the teacher asked. "Are you hurt?"
"No..." Yu looked up, squeezing out a forced grin. "I’m fine. It was just my own fault..."
Only Dong, sitting in the back, noticed that Yu’s shoulders were shaking. She felt a surge of anger, but she didn’t know how to voice it.
When the bell rang, Kai clearly wasn't finished. He walked over to Yu’s desk, kicked it, and sneered, "Hey, that move you did earlier was so cool. Why don't you perform it for us again?"
The crowd began to cheer. Dong felt a fire burning in her chest, but she saw Kai’s strong arms and the circle of classmates eager to follow his lead. She knew that if she rushed over and screamed, "You're being mean!" they would only think she was strange, and she might become the next target.
Kai noticed Dong staring at him. He asked provocatively, "Hey! Dong, didn't you see that? It was hilarious!"
All eyes turned to her. Dong looked at Kai’s face, then at Yu’s hunched back, which looked as if it were trying to disappear.
She stood up slowly and took a deep breath. She didn't shout; she didn't lash out. She simply looked at Kai calmly, her facial muscles perfectly still, her lips pressed into a firm, steady line.
"It’s not funny," Dong said. Her voice wasn't loud, but it was crystal clear.
Kai froze, his face flushing with sudden irritation.
"What, you think you’re better than us? You have zero sense of humor!"
Kai began to perform even more wildly, trying to win back the atmosphere Dong had broken. But something strange happened.
Because of Dong’s "determined silence," Jun, who had been laughing, caught sight of Dong’s expression. Her laughter died down awkwardly. She lowered her head and began organizing her bag. Then, Hsiang, who was standing right next to Kai, turned away as well. One by one, the circle around Kai began to drift apart.
The laughter that had felt "only natural" moments ago began to crack because of one person’s silence. Kai’s performance grew more awkward, his movements stiff. Finally, he just waved his hand dismissively. "Hmph! This is boring," he muttered, walking away sullenly.
Dong went back to her seat, pulled a cute bandage her mother had given her from her bag, and placed it on Yu’s desk. Yu looked up at her. At that moment, his shoulders stopped trembling.
Dong wasn't a superhero. But on that day, she was Yu’s hero.
Sometimes, we don’t need to be the brave warrior who slays the dragon. We only need to be the ordinary person who refuses to applaud for the dragon to keep hope alive in this world.
