The world knows of Zheng He's voyages to the Western Oceans, but few know that upon those seas floats a ledger soaked in vermillion and rust.

In the third year of the Yongle reign, sixty-two black-prowed behemoths plowed through the silent Yangtze. Beneath their hulls, a dragon daughter wept in chains. Within their ledgers, living souls were quietly erased. And from their cannons peered the maw of "Order" – a force before which even gods would plead for mercy.

Welcome aboard Chronicles of the Southern Voyages. Here, you will find no azure seas or skies, no triumphant tributes from myriad states.

Here, you will find:
・Zheng He, his brow split by a vertical fissure that craves order, using the vast "disorder" of the Southern Oceans to medicate a pain born of systemization.
・Wang Jinghong, his fingers transformed into jade abacus beads, tasked with pricing all existence – from the gilt of Buddha statues to the terror of soldiers, even to the passage documents for lost souls.
・Ma Huan, whose tongue bears a cinnabar nevus; the more eloquently he speaks of "auspicious signs," the more grotesquely grows the dream-devouring tapir in his gut that feeds on lies.
・And as for Hou Xian, the old eunuch forever polishing his peach-stone kernels, he merely grins: "This old servant just borrowed a little 'human warmth' from the ways of the world."

From the Dragon King of Changle Port, "stuck" in bureaucratic paperwork, to the stars rotting like old ledgers over the Blackwater Ocean; from the Buddha statues of Siam, priced and waiting for sale, to the life-spans bartered by the pound at the Dragon's Teeth Strait – this fleet sails not toward a geographical "West," but toward the ultimate formatting of "Heaven's Way and the King's Law."

This is not a book about conquest.
It is a book about how a "System" devours all things, until it begins to chew upon itself.

If you are weary of formulaic tales of otherworldly domination,
If you are curious about the chemical reaction when bureaucratic logic collides with cosmic horror,
If you are willing to confront a gloriously chilling pathological report on civilization itself –
Then, come aboard.

The sea has thickened like ink upon the stone.
The vermillion brush hangs poised beneath heaven.
We weigh anchor.
