I groggily opened my eyes to see that the ceiling was rounded and dull grey. Realizing that this was not my room I hurriedly sat up, and scanned the room. No one was in the room aside from myself and the walls were the same dull grey that stretched around the sphere-like small room. The most worrying aspect was that there was no doors.
Giggles resounded in the room and a new character was suddenly woven into the picture where it was not there before. He had long black hair tied into a ponytail, unnaturally pale skin, red eyes and a casual black and red outfit. He smiled with shark-like teeth.
I sprung up and put enough distance between the man and me. His grinned simply widened at the amusing display. Taking steps forward in his sneakers, he had me back up into the wall.
“It’s always funny seeing people react to waking up here. Especially, because they think they can escape when there are no doors. Tell me… are you stupid?” the boy giggled again, perhaps a bit too amused of my fear. I shook my head, avoiding eye contact with his demonic orbs. He frowned ever so slightly, leaning in to examine my stature. I flinched.
“Not good,” he muttered as he pulled back. “Don’t you know that being timid is bad here? The Playground is not the same as what you are used to.”
“Who are you?” I asked and he flicked me on the forehead with a smile.
“Questions are bad too. Well, unless they’re directed to me so I guess this is an exception. I’m your guide, pick any name for me since we aren’t made to have them. Well I suppose I could be V6689, but that’s a mouthful,” his words were said cheerfully, as if his mere existence was a toy.
“Where am I?” I felt more confident as I realized that the boy has no intent on hurting me. At least at the moment. He clicked his tongue.
“As I previously said we’re in The Playground where if you pass a test you can get your inner desires fulfilled. No matter how messed up they are,” he shrugged and raised a brow.
“Huh? But I have none of those,” I said confused and he giggled again.
“Oh honey, we all have them. Whether we know what it is or not, every human or ex-human have them,” he pointed to my chest. “You want to be talented, yes?”
“Yes,” I smacked his hand away. Ex human sounded interesting, though I assumed it was best not to ask at that moment. I had a feeling I didn’t actually want to know. I pushed off the wall.
“Is there a way to get out of here?” the boy put an arm around my shoulder with a bright smile.
“Depends, will you take the challenge or rot in here for eternity?” I produce an impish grin.
“Isn’t it obvious? I’ll take the challenge,” at my words the grey walls faded into nothing. The scenery was filled with rolling greyish green mist, trees were bare and gnarled and the path we stood on was a glowing white arch with silver spikes at the pits if we fell.
In the distance you could see where the path abruptly ends. I take in the musty air with a gasp. Hold on. What is this nightmare? The boy stood off to the side with a devilish smirk and said his next words with immense amusement.
“Hey kid, you chose the wrong choice."
