They finally made something that looked good—and, surprisingly, tasted even better. The girls washed the dishes while Damian helped prepare the table, and Theodore and Blake went to call the couple.
Blake knocked on the door upstairs. Mr. Charles opened it.106Please respect copyright.PENANAGIZP39xSFB
“What do you want?” he asked.
“Dinner is ready… please come eat,” Blake said, pointing downstairs.
“Who made it?” Mr. Charles eyed him.
“All of us. Especially me,” Blake replied confidently.
Mr. Charles gave a slow, deliberate nod, almost skeptical. “Right… then good night,” he said, waving dismissively.
Mrs. Patricia laughed from behind him. “Honey, that is not nice. Dear, we’re coming down now.” She rose from the bed, and Blake went ahead of them.
Everything was arranged, and soon everyone sat down to eat together.
“This is delicious!” Mrs. Patricia exclaimed, impressed.
Mr. Charles didn’t say much but quietly went for a second helping.
“This feels so good!” Lily said, doing a little happy dance as she ate.
They all enjoyed the meal, the tension from earlier slowly fading as they laughed and shared the small moment. Once they finished, they stood up to clear the table while the couple headed to the hall to rest.
The calm lasted only a moment before Raven jumped to her feet.106Please respect copyright.PENANA0mith5iUFf
“Guys… before it’s too late, let’s call the cops.”
They all turned to her, surprised.106Please respect copyright.PENANABIDdCmzDEe
“Now?” Damian asked cautiously.
"Yes, now! We were supposed to call before we even headed to your room. Before it’s too late,” she said, standing up and grabbing her phone.
She held it up, waving it in the air.106Please respect copyright.PENANAWEbmEacNKB
“Guys…” Her voice faltered as she stopped speaking, they waited.. “There’s no signal.”
“What?” everyone said at once, rushing to her side.
“Give me that,” Blake said, snatching the phone and trying every corner of the room. He shook his head. “No signal. None.”
Panic began creeping in. “There is no service,” Lily said, her voice trembling.
Theodore grabbed the radio and flicked the switch—static. There was nothing.
Blake’s eyes scanned the surrounding forest, wide with
realization. “Someone… someone’s cut all the connections. Internet, radio—everything.”
“Not completely,” Sienna said, crouching by the radio. “Radios don’t need the internet. Maybe… maybe we can reach the broadcasting station.”
They leaned closer, twisting knobs, adjusting frequencies, holding their breath. Every crackle and hiss made them flinch. Silence hung like a weight around them.
"We need to wait, until we hear something" lily murmured.
Damian’s face hardened, jaw tight. “That’s not an accident. They don’t want us contacting anyone.”
A tense hush fell over the group. The forest seemed darker somehow, more oppressive. They weren’t just trapped—they were completely cut off from the outside world. And whoever did this was still out there.
