Candado (The Violet Blood) Episode 2 - PROLOGUE: THE WEIGHT OF PAIN

Thanatos, January 9th, 1919

Pain descended upon the earth like a faceless god, and it was then—not when towers fell, but when the spirit did—that the true damnation began.

We were not defeated by steel or fire.

We were broken by something older and crueler:

the lament born from understanding too late.

Once, we were warrior saints, guardians of the great cities of the world, proud and upright. We raised our weapons against the tyranny of Harambee, the impure child of the lost continent. And though our blades were righteous, our hearts never escaped the stain of doubt.

We were so close… so close to freeing the world from its rot.

But the pain of regret—that which follows every choice made in blind faith—reached us, and shattered us.

The wars ceased.

Light bathed the earth.

And yet…

we found no peace.

Because physical pain fades.

But the pain of knowing oneself guilty,

of having believed the end justified the fall,

that pain never fades.

The guilds extinguished our lights, yes.

But it was our own regret that dug our graves.

They believe they have won this war. They deceive themselves.

Because pain does not destroy… it transforms.

Now we are more than flesh.

We are conscious ruin.

We are the echo of all that was once just,

and all that was destroyed by our own hands.

Together, we are the Circuit.

Not a network of hope, but a wound that pulses.

And that wound has not healed.

They celebrate a soulless victory.

But to ignore the weight of pain is to build a throne on poisoned ground.

We will never kneel.

Not because we are strong.

But because we can no longer fall lower than we already have.

Vengeance is near, brothers.

And when we return…

it will not be with rage.

But with the serenity of those who have suffered everything.

There will be no prisoners.

No guilds.

Only memory.

And pain.
