“Okay Ash! Don’t be late this time!” My mom managed to get out before I slammed the door and ran down the front steps to my house.

I raced through the woods to my special spot - a lush green area next to a creek where there were plenty of trees to climb in. I used to go here with my dad and we would go fishing and pick berries (that google confirmed were safe to eat). We would laugh and play here. I’ve been working on finishing this tree house that me and my dad started building before the accident and I am just about done. I should be able to finish it today. I grabbed my stash of wooden planks and got to the building. Just a couple more holes in the roof and one in the wall. I worked hard as I grabbed each nail and hammered it in. “What did you do today honey?” My mom asked. My mom doesn’t know anything about the spot or the treehouse so I just state the usual.
“I went looking around for something cool. Didn’t really find anything though.”
“Again?” My mom asked
“I know right? Like there has to be something cool in those woods. Well, I’m heading to bed.”

I go to bed and it’s the same nightmare.
I’m running through the woods, my dad tightly holding my hand, me being confused.
“Dad, what's going on?” Eight - year - old me asked.
“Ashlynn just keep running.” He said in a very serious tone. That had shut me up. Sometime later I stopped. I was exhausted. My dad looked at me with a huge look of fear on his face and then suddenly the bear was on him. Ripping him apart. Blood was splattered everywhere. The bear ran away and I went up to my dad and grabbed the bloody pulp of his hand. There was a huge gap in his forehead and one in his chest.
“MOM!” I screamed but it was too late. I ran home, dragged my mom here and she called the police. From then on I was banned from that part of the woods. I hadn’t went back to the spot until my 9th birthday.
I woke up drenched in sweat, my black tank top wet.
I decided to change my shirt to a black t - shirt. Most of my closet is black. I’m not emo, I just like the color. I went downstairs to make myself some pity waffles. I was busy drenching them in whipped cream when my mom came downstairs.
“Dream about the accident again?” She asked.
“Yeah. It’s not much.”
“Okay well finish your waffles and then start working on your school work.”
I gave her a thumbs up because my mouth was stuffed. I’m homeschooled because I work better that way. I’m 16 and haven’t gone to public school a year in my life. Sometimes it gets boring but it’s better than social interaction everyday.
Once I finished my schoolwork I headed to the treehouse and started decorating. First, I painted it black. Once the paint dried, I put up the fairy lights inside (just in case I got bored of the fluorescent lights) and tested them. I hooked up the tv to it. Now, you’re probably wondering how this stuff works. I put solar panels on the roof and hooked up the electronics to the wiring through the electrical sockets. I also got an extra wifi router connected to the wifi that runs throughout our house. “Where is she?” One man asked.
“I’m not telling you.” She told him.
“Don’t make us find her ourselves.” The other man told her

“What just happened?” I thought
“Okay some guys with guns are trying to find me. Maybe it’s because of my skills with engineering and electronics? Should I stay here? I will for now. If they find me I need to have smoke bombs, a tent, and a bag with food and stuff in it. Okay. Done. Now I can rest." And with that, I lay on the bed, thinking about what happened.
