Hairstyle:
Alya had called all their classmates because she was trying to set up Marinette's surprise party. However, they all said that they couldn't meet up since they were all busy. Alya tried to convince them to help, but they said that they don't want to cancel their plans or were unable to. She tried to invite Adrien, but he flat out refused because he didn't want to be near the bluenette. Left with no choice, Alya asked her family and Marinette's parents to help her out.
In truth, the classmates didn't want to get involve with Alya and Marinette. They all knew that Marinette might still have obsessive feelings for Adrien. Even though Lily is now Adrien's girlfriend, they still felt uneasy around Marinette. They had an unsettling feeling that Marinette wasn't going to give up on Adrien and might pull something later on. So they thought it would be better if they avoided Marinette for the time being.
Tom & Sabine Boulangerie Patisserie
Marinette was up in her room, folding her laundry, waiting for Alya to call her. She knew that Alya was preparing a surprise party for her. But she wondered if Adrien and her classmates were helping as well. Oh, she would be so happy if Adrien showed up! It would be a great birthday with him around. It would be even better if he got her a gift. But there was a possibility that Lily would show up as well along with Chloe and Sabrina. She hoped that the three wouldn't show up.
So she headed downstairs to see her parents. She just had to confirm whether Alya was planning her a surprise party or not.
"Mom! Dad! Do you know anything about Alya planning a surprise party for my birthday?" Marinette asked.
Her parents freeze in place, in the middle of decorating a large cake. Tom immediately hides the cake in the garbage and sits on the lid, while Sabine leans on the counter.
"Uh, oh, uh... Party? Uh, what party? Uh, which Alya, again?" Tom excused poorly, only to be hit with a small red fruit by Sabine.
"You're overdoing it... we're talking about her best friend!" Sabine whispered, eyes flicking back and forth between Tom and Marinette.
"Alya! Of course, Alya! We haven't seen her in years!" Tom said nervously laughed, making Sabine sigh.
Suddenly the doorbell soon rings.
Marinette walks over to the door, expecting Alya, and then opens the door.
"Grandma?!" She exclaimed.
"Mom?" Tom asked.
"Gina?" Sabine asked.
Marinette laughs and hugs her grandmother.
Gina pushes up her sunglasses. "Marinetta! You're so tall for your age! Did you get my letters from Patagonia?" She asked.
Marinette leads her grandma inside. "Yes! And the ones from Australia, Bali, and Estonia, too! Did you really get chased by a bear?!" She asked, alarmed.
"Yes. But we wound up good friends in the end." Gina laughed.
"Mom. It's her birthday, remember?" Tom whispered to her.
"Why do you think I'm here?" Gina replied. She gives Marinette a package from inside her motorcycle helmet.
"Happy birthday, my fairy! My Inuit friend knitted it especially for your tenth birthday!" Gina continued, twirled.
"Uh, she's fifteen." Tom corrected her.
"My! How time flies." Gina said. She looks startled, as the shirt was obviously too small for Marinette to wear. The woman waves her hand. "That's okay. I'll ask my friends to make another one."
"No! No, it's awesome! I can make this work. It's perfect, grandma. Thank you." Marinette said, politely.
"Your Nonna has also brought you your favorite candy!" Gina places a tin in Marinette's hand.
"Oh!" Marinette laughed, uncertainly.
"You still love them, right?" Gina asked.
"Yes! Yes, of course..." Marinette lied.
Gina puts her motorcycle helmet on the bluenette's head, "And that's not all, my fairy! We'll have a wonderful day, you and I! Just like the last time. We'll go to the merry-go-round and to the zoo, then-!" She listed.
"Uh, Mom?" Tom interrupted Gina.
"Can I have a word, Mom? Uh, just the two of us." Tom requested.
"What, Tom? That I don't know my Marinetta anymore because I'm always travelling?" Gina retorted.
"No, Mom! It's just-" Tom tried to say.
"You think she doesn't want to spend time with her Nonna, is that it?" Gina asked, dramatically.
"No! Of course I want to spend time with you!" Marinette said, before checking the time. "Uh, besides, it's not four o'clock yet."
"There. You see?" Gina sends a smug look to her son. "Come on, let's go, Marinetta! We're going to have a ball!" She pulls her granddaughter out of the house.
Rossi Residence - Lily's Room
Lily was in her room, helping Reead decorate his room while the Cricut was making the wooden parts for his bed. She was making the pillow for the bed with the sewing machine.
"This is the perfect color!" Reead beamed as he painted his room with a ruby red paint with a brush.
"I'm glad you like it." Lily said as she finished the pillow.
"Mankind has made many inventions to help make things easier." Chrona commented, looking at the sewing machine.
"Indeed. But sometimes, I don't need to use it." Lily stated.
"But the internet is very interesting. I didn't think that knowledge would be spread out so openly." Chrona commented.
"Yeah. People can now look up anything they want on the internet." Lily agreed.
"Even the bad stuff?" Chrona asked.
Lily nodded, "Yes."
"Yikes." Chrona blinked in shock.
"Quick question, will there be an Akuma today?" Attã asked.
"Unfortunately, yes." Lily replied.
"Who gets Akumatized?" Tikki questioned.
"Gina, Marinette's grandmother." Lily answered.
"Her grandmother?" Beatt blinked in shock.
"Yeah. Apparently, Marinette easily figured out that Alya planned a surprise party for her. Her grandma had also arrived for her birthday, who didn't know about the surprise party. She gave her some candy that she thought Marinette liked. But Marinette was able to hide her distaste for them from her. But soon Alya was able to get Marinette to go to her surprise party by giving the excuse of taking her sisters to the dentist," Lily paused, "Gina soon found out that Marinette didn't eat any of the candy that she gave to her. Then Hawk Moth sent an Akuma to her."
"Then maybe you should head out." Nivval suggested.
"Good idea," Lily turned to Tikki, "Ready Tikki?"
Tikki nodded, "Ready!"
Lily's earrings had turned from black to red. She flipped her hair back to show more of her ears, "Tikki, Spots On!"
Park des Vosges
Everything was now set up and Alya shows up with a blindfolded Marinette. Alya took off the blindfold.
"Happy Birthday Marinette!" Alya's family says.
The bluenette was delighted but she was confused when she only saw Alya's family.
"Hey Alya, where's everyone else?" Marinette whispered.
Alya sighed, "I tried to get everyone to come. But they all had plans that they couldn't cancel." She revealed.
"And... Adrien?" Marinette asked, hesitantly.
Alya shook her head, "Flat out refused." She admitted.
Marinette saddened at the thought that Adrien wasn't going to attend her party. The only bright side was that Lily and her two friends wouldn't be here. Suddenly Befana's voice calls out, startling everyone.
"♫ La Befana comes at night, on her shaky broom in flight. She gives candy to those who are dandy. ♫" The villain hops off her flying motorcycle and walks toward Marinette.
"Grandma?!" Marinette's eyes widened.
"You lied to your grandma, Marinetta." Befana spoke.
Everyone scattered.
"No, I-I didn't know Alya was throwing a surprise party for me." Marinette uttered.
Alya moved in front of her best friend. "She's for real, ma'am."
"And all those candies you pretended to be eating?" Befana asked.
"I'm sorry, grandma. It's just that I didn't want to upset you." The bluenette stated.
"I'm not your grandma anymore. From now on, I am only Befana! And I'm going to punish you for all those lies!" Befana tries to shoot Marinette, but she ducks, causing Otis to get hit instead, and he turns to coal.
"No!" Marinette and Alya cried.
Marinette was about to ran away from Befana, but Sabine, who was now an angel-like fairy, blocked her path.
"It's rude to leave while Befana's still speaking to you," Befana aims her gun at Marinette, but her aim is knocked away by Cat Noir's staff.
"Hey, I never knew grandmas could be so nasty." The cat hero commented.
"You would look wonderful in white, my pretty kitty." Befana rotates the cylinder of her gun again and fires at the cat hero, but he dodged easily.
"Eh, not convinced. I'm much more into black. Makes my eyes stand out, don't you think?" Cat Noir asked before he eluded more blasts from Befana's gun.
"Take care of this pesky pussycat!" The villain said to Sabine.
Sabine obliged and flew up to Cat Noir and attacked him. Luckily, he dodged.
"Hey, I thought fairies were supposed to be nice!" Cat Noir exclaimed.
Sabine goes in to attack him again, but a yo-yo was wrapped around her waist, and she was pulled to the ground.
Lady Scarlet jumps on top of the chimney Cat Noir were on just then. "Hey, kitty. Need a hand?"
"Badly." Cat Noir replied.
Meanwhile, Befana was firing coal at Marinette, who was running away. "You're not getting away unpunished, Marinetta!"
The bluebell-eyed girl trips and accidentally knocks into the table full of presents, one falls which is turned to coal by Befana.
"You don't deserve all these presents; you spoiled little brat! Now, for what you really deserve," Befana attempts to fire her gun again, but it is empty, forcing her to reload from the bag at her waist. "Don't worry. You'll get what's coming to you."
Marinette quickly crawls under a table. "This isn't how I envisioned my birthday party..."
The table is turned to coal just then, forcing Marinette to get out from under it and hide again.
"Do you lie only to me?" Befana questioned.
"Cat Noir! Lady Scarlet!" Marinette yelled.
Meanwhile, Lady Scarlet and Cat Noir were still trying to fend off Sabine.
"Stay put, we'll be right there!" Cat Noir promised, he was attacked again. "Uh, soon!" He says while Lady Scarlet hurled Sabine off of him.
Befana turns Marinette's hiding spot into coal. "Or do you also lie to your parents and your friends, too?" She asked as Marinette backed away from her.
Meanwhile, Alya was hiding behind a bush. "We gotta help Marinette!" She told her mom and two little sisters.
"The time has come to teach you a lesson," Just as Befana was about to shoot Marinette, a plate zipped past her face. More plates were thrown at her by Alya.
"Marinette is not a liar!" Alya defended her best friend, continuing to throw plates.
"Someone has to teach you table manners!" Befana shoots Alya, turning her to coal.
"Alya!" Marinette, Marlena, Nora and Alya's little sisters cried.
"Please don't touch Marinette! She's our sister's best friend!" Ella defended.
"That's very disrespectful, to speak up without permission! But then again, it's quite noble of you to stick up for your sister's friend. Okay. I shall make you a fairy." Befana turns Ella into a white, angel-like fairy. "You are going to help me discipline your sister's friend." She laughs evilly.
Just then Sabine was sent sailing into the trees and Cat Noir and Lady Scarlet drops down in front of Marinette, who is hiding behind the stage.
"Sorry, we kept you waiting. Let's find you a better place to hide," Cat Noir held out his hand and extended his staff. "Shall we?"
Meanwhile, Befana sees Marinette escaping with Cat Noir on his staff and Lady Scarlet following after them.
"Marinetta is getting away with the kitty and the bug! Catch them!" Befana ordered.
Ella and Sabine try to follow the order but are caught up in banners held by Marlena, Etta and Nora.
"How rude," The villain turns the others into coal, freeing her fairies. "Maybe this way you'll learn to keep quiet." With that, she rode away on her motorcycle.
Meanwhile, Cat Noir is carrying Marinette over the rooftops in his arms with Lady Scarlet running beside him.
"So why's your grandma flipping out?" Cat Noir asked.
"I think she wanted me to spend more time with her." Marinette replied.
"So why didn't you?" Lady Scarlet raised an eyebrow.
Marinette looked away and frowned.
Cat Noir vaults up to the Eiffel Tower using his staff while Lady Scarlet yo-yos after him.
The cat hero sets Marinette down. "Don't worry, promise to get your real grandma back safe," he told Marinette before jumping on the railing. "Oh, I almost forgot. Happy Birthday anyway."
"Thank you, Cat Noir." Marinette smiles.
Cat Noir jumps down.
"You should really apologize to your grandma after this, Marinette. She might've thought you were taking her for granted. You should be grateful," Lady Scarlet told Marinette before turning away and looking down sadly. "Some people don't have grandmas at all."
With that, the bug superhero jumped down after her partner.
Befana turns a teen boy who littered into coal before she began to sing "La Donna è Mobile". She turns a little boy teasing a little girl into coal, then turns Jean Duparc into a fairy for helping a woman and her baby and a firefighter into a fairy for saving a little girl's cat. The fairies join her, and she turns a man impatiently honking his car horn into coal.
In the midst of her song, she is knocked off her bike by Cat Noir's staff.
"♫ Cat Noir comes too unexpectedly...♫" Cat Noir stops. "Uh, how do we make that rhyme?"
Just then Lady Scarlet lands beside him. "♫Fighting evil with his lady♫" She sang, spinning her yo-yo.
Hawk Moth's symbol outlines Befana's face.
"Bring me the Miraculous, Befana!" Hawk Moth demanded.
"You didn't say the magic word~!" Befana reminded.
Hawk Moth looks visibly taken aback by this and he clears his throat, hunching his shoulders. "Ahem. Please." He said, begrudgingly.
"Much better, Hawk Moth! You little thieves! Where have you hidden Marinetta?!" Befana pointed a finger at the heroes.
"We forgetta." Cat Noir taunted.
Lady Scarlet snorted. "Careful, or you'll be getting a time out of your own." She smirked at Befana.
"Take care of these little villains." Befana commanded.
The fairies began attacking the heroes and they avoided them.
"Hmmm," Befana pondered where Marinette could be and then spotted the Eiffel Tower. "Ha! Of course, the most obvious choice." She runs across the rooftops before jumping onto her motorcycle and heading for the Eiffel Tower.
Cat Noir sees where she's going. "We can't let her get to the Eiffel Tower!" He warned Lady Scarlet.
"Sh1t," Lady Scarlet cursed as she saw where Befana was going. "Let's go!" She swung after the villain while Cat Noir vaulted after her.
The fairies followed after the Miraculous duo.
"Where are you, Marinetta? Befana has a special treat for you!" Befana remarked, flying around the Tower.
Marinette whimpers when she hears Befana's voice before rushing to the elevator.
Suddenly, Cat Noir drops onto the back of the villain's bike. "Can I hitch a ride? Your granddaughter isn't here. Let me show you the way," He grabs a handle of the bike and steers it away.
"Pets are not allowed on board!" Befana spins the bike, knocking Cat Noir off.
Luckily, Lady Scarlet caught him and landed on the Tower with him. "What a sweet ladybug you are. You'll make a perfect fairy!" She fires shots at Lady Scarlet, who easily moved around to avoid them.
"Thanks, but no thanks." Lady Scarlet rejected the offer.
"You can't turn down a gift, you rude little imp! You take care of the kitty, my fairies, while I punish this polka-dot brat!" Befana says.
The fairies attempted to attack Cat Noir, but they were unable to touch them.
Meanwhile, Befana pursues Lady Scarlet up the side of the Tower, firing a volley of shots at her which she dodges. The projectiles are pulled down by gravity and almost hit Befana, had she not avoided them, which Lady Scarlet noticed. She attempts to fire at the said hero, but she is out of ammo.
"Cat Noir," Lady Scarlet landed next to her partner. "I saw Befana dodging her own candies. Even she can't touch them!"
Cat Noir observed Befana as she refilled her ammo. "The candy bag! The Akuma must be in there!"
"Of course! Lucky Charm!" Lady Scarlet acquired a tuba.
"You didn't tell me you played the tuba." Cat Noir said.
"I don't, but it looks like I'm gonna have to learn." The bug heroine spoke.
Befana's coal shots rained down on the area around the duo and the fairies pushed them through the floor below.
"Very naughty. I'm going to have to take your toys away from you." The villain pronounced as her fairies surrounded the heroes.
Lady Scarlet used her Lucky Vision and sees the elevator doors, the underground fire hydrant, and the tuba, which she had dropped. "Okay. You win, Befana." She winked at a shocked Cat Noir, and he easily caught on.
"W-We did lie, I'm sorry," Cat Noir apologized. "Your granddaughter is here."
"Never too late to tell the truth, right?" Lady Scarlet asked Befana.
"I don't believe you." Befana said.
"I'll take you to her myself." Cat Noir offered as he stood up and began guiding Befana away.
"Keep an eye on the ladybug." The villain said to her fairies before walking away.
The moment she is out of earshot, Lady Scarlet chuckles and uses her yo-yo to pull a fire hose towards her. "Sorry guys, I've gotta put you all in time out." She told the fairies, swinging around the hose.
Cat Noir apprehensively opens a closet door. He sighs in relief on seeing that Marinette isn't inside.
"What is the meaning of this? She isn't here!" Befana yelled, outraged.
"I guess I'm a compulsive liar?" Cat Noir shrugged.
Befana growls in frustration, then hears the elevator. "Huh?" She sees it going down. "There you are! Nice try, Marinetta, but you won't get away that easily!" She jumps over the glass guard wall onto her motorbike, cackling.
Meanwhile Lady Scarlet and Cat Noir appear at the guard wall, looking down.
"Don't worry kitty, I'm sure Marinette found a safe place to hide." Lady Scarlet assured her partner.
Eiffel Tower Base
Befana hops off her motorbike, spinning before readying her weapon for when the doors open. "I'm waiting for you, Marinetta," The doors finally open. "What?" She is shocked to find her fairies tied up inside the elevator.
The superheroes land behind her just then.
"Cat Noir! The fire hydrant!" Lady Scarlet called out as she used her yo-yo to grab the Lucky Charm tuba.
"My pleasure. Cataclysm!" Cat Noir uses his left hand to pull the cover off the fire hydrant and presses down on the hydrant with his Cataclysm, causing a fountain of water to appear.
Befana turns around with a noise of surprise in time to see Lady Scarlet slam the tuba down on the torrent of water, sending a jet of it straight for Befana, who tries to block it with her gun and turn it to coal. The shot affects the water, the tuba, and Befana herself.
Lady Scarlet says as she grabs Befana's candy box, breaking it in half and revealing the Akuma. "Not so fast, you filthy Akuma!" She caught it with her yo-yo. "Gotcha!" She releases it. "So long, Butterfly. Miraculous Scarlet!"
The bug superhero throws the tuba into the air, and its energy undoes all the damages and reverts Befana back into Gina Dupain.
"Pound it!" Lady Scarlet and Cat Noir fist-bumped each other.
Hawk Moth's Lair
"Lady Scarlet, Cat Noir, you've escaped punishment yet again! I won't sugarcoat the truth, and next time I will destroy you and have your Miraculous!" Hawk Moth swore as his window closes.
Park des Vosges
Alya, her family along with Marinette's parents were finally back to normal. They were having a good time despite the interruption.
Meanwhile, Gina is standing at the ice cream cart from earlier, talking with André.
"So, how about you, André? Do you have anyone in particular to share your ice cream with these days? ~" Gina asked flirtatiously.
"Well, actually, I have yet to find the perfect blend of flavors." André replied.
Marinette hugs her grandmother tightly from behind just then. "Grandma!"
"My sweetie, what did you do with that tee shirt?" Gina points to a new version of her purse Marinette is wearing.
"I fixed it up, grandma. I've been sewing ever since the last time you came to visit." The bluenette responded.
Gina wipes a tear from her eye. "You're so grown up, Marinette. You know what? There'll be no more merry-go-rounds or zoos. For your next birthday, I'll take you on one of my trips!"
Marinette hugs her again. "Thank you, Grandma! But you know, it doesn't matter where you take me. With you, it's always unforgettable."
Alya and her family begin to sing "Happy Birthday" as Marinette's parents bring out the cake.
Nora lift Marinette up so she can blow out the candles, then she sets her on the ground as everyone claps.
Rossi Residence - Lily's Room - Later
Lily was helping Reead construct his bed while they waited for the paint dry for his room. Soon enough, the bed was completed with pillows, sheets and comforter.
"And done." Lily declared as she put the pillow on Reead's bed.
"Ooooh! I love it!" Reead beamed as he gazed at his new bed with amazement.
"Well, we have to leave it alone for tonight. We'll put in your room tomorrow." Lily promised.
"Okay." Reead nodded.
"You and Cat Noir seemed to have had a little trouble with that Akuma today." Pyyroo commented.
"Yeah. It's almost hard to believe that you're fighting against an elderly woman who has a lot of spunk and is strict as well." Lily admitted.
"What do you mean?" Jaww asked.
"She actually told Hawk Moth that he didn't say the magic word when he wanted our Miraculouses." Lily replied.
"What is the magic word?" Pentta questioned.
"Please." Lily grinned.
The Kwamis were quiet for a moment and soon they all giggled along with Lily. For Lily, she was glad that she and Cat Noir were able to defeat Befana and was able to give Gina a magical charm to protect her. Though she did wonder why there was hardly anyone at Marinette's surprise party. She only saw Alya and her family. Earlier she had asked Adrien about it, he had told her that Alya tried to invite him to come to Marinette's party. He refused because he had asked her if he could invite Lily, Chloé and Sabrina but Alya didn't want them to come. So he refused to go.
Lily was surprised that her classmates didn't come to help out. But she was glad that Alya didn't try and threaten everyone to help out. Lily always believed that Marinette would take some people for granted. Not wanting to spend time with her grandma was proof of that.
