Kylie appeared in a small Oregon town one day after growing up in Arizona. She was immediately attracted to Liz, a cashier at the local grocery store. Liz was attracted to Kylie as well, and when Kylie was rendered paralyzed after being hit by a courtroom judge who was driving drunk, Liz wanted to reach out to Kylie—to get to know her, to help her, and even to take her to live with her and her parents on their sprawling farm.

Kylie settled in with Liz and her family and learned to get around on crutches. All the while, Liz and her family came to learn two very frightening things about Kylie: not only did she have a mysterious and questionable past, but people who crossed her seemed to have a knack for disappearing, falling ill, or dying as well!
