I opened my eyes, the light burned my face. I carefully raised my hand in front of my eyes, and when my vision adjusted to the intense light, I looked around. I was no longer in the chamber I had fallen asleep in, no, I was sitting in the middle of a clearing. This clearing was beautiful, full of colorful flowers, whose petals sparkled in the plowed dew. In the distance I could hear the sound of a stream. I slowly got to my feet and straightened my clothes. I looked around again, but he was nowhere to be seen, I felt a strange, cold shiver run down my spine.

“Kigami!”
His name left my lips, but I got no answer. I knew that she had no other choice but to start walking forward, in the hope that I would find him. I had no idea how long I had been wandering through the clearing, still calling out his name. To no avail… I never got an answer. Broken, I continued on, the road ahead of me began to rise into the hill. When I finally got to the top, an old, wooden, small cottage appeared before my eyes. In front of its door I admired, my hand hovered over the doorknob, I had no idea what was waiting for me inside. In my heart, however, I hoped that I would find him there. I let out a breath and opened the door. A pleasant candlelight was coming from inside, and when I entered I felt someone’s presence, the impression that something or someone was watching me.

“Kigami? Are you here?”

Suddenly I heard a sound, quiet as a whisper of wind. My knees were shaking, without a moment’s thought I grabbed the dagger hanging at my belt and turned around abruptly. Behind me stood Anstel, his person unmoved, his gaze cold.
“I am not here to hurt you, but to warn you…”
His words were emotionless, unapologetic, just like we talked to him in his back there in Nokta…
“Warn me about what? If you start lecturing me about what connects me and Kigami, then let it go.”

I saw him raise an eyebrow and then nod.

“Even I as a god cannot decide about your life, but I can guide you in it, but I am not here to judge your relationship with Koshei.”

Anstel sat down and then made a gesture that made me understand to sit next to him.

“I came here to protect you from your nightmares…”
Then I remembered Kigami’s words
“Some of them can eat nightmares.”

I looked at him
“You know, thank you very much for your concern, but these are just nightmares really…”
However, before I could finish, Anstel interrupted me.
“No… It’s not just nightmares, the boundary between the real world and the dream world is practically non-existent especially after Sitaka got sick. It means that everything that happens to you in your dream, happens to you in the real world.”
“… Wait, that means that if you die in your dream, then…”
“You die in the real world.” He finished.
I felt everything around me start to spin.
“Is this what you wanted to warn me about?”
Anstel just looked at me, something in his eyes that made me understand that this was exactly what he meant.

My lips parted, but before any words could leave my mouth, everything around me started to blur. The last thing I remember were Anstel’s words.
“Please return to the world of awake, next time you come back here, Sitaka will have full control over beautiful dreams again. And you can dream peacefully without any dangers.”

It was those words that broke my heart.

Kimoko opened her eyes and took a deep breath, she raised herself slightly and looked next to her. Kigami was lying right next to her, one of his arms still resting on her stomach. The girl sighed, but her attention was quickly caught by the sound of the door closing. Kimoko looked at Kigami once more. At his face in which for the first time she did not see his worries but something that made him almost human. Then she gently moved his arm from her body and stood up, but she felt Kigami’s hand grab her wrist.

“Where are you going?” Kigami’s voice was hoarse from sleep and his eyes were slightly open.

“I need to get some fresh air.” she replied, searching for something in his sleepy eyes. The demon held her wrist for a moment longer, but without another word he let her go. The girl did not turn to him anymore as she closed the heavy door of the chamber behind her. Kimoko wandered through the cool, dark chambers of Anstel’s castle, the only light, or rather illusions of it, coming from the paintings of the harvest stars on the ceiling. One of her hands wandered along the wall so as not to get completely lost in the darkness. She saw a soft light from under her eyelashes, her steps quickened, each one longer than the last until she finally ran into the throne room. The room was empty, and Kimoko fell to her knees. Her hair fluttered in front of her face like curtains as she lifted her head. Now she had enough time to look around calmly. Her eyes scanned the stained glass windows, but one in particular caught her attention. The stained glass window depicted a woman, but she did not resemble either Sitaka or Sheyra. The woman was dressed in a crimson robe, and her black hair, loosely braided, fell to her pale face. A man dressed in a white tunic with a gold collar stood at her side. His curly hair was intertwined with golden streaks, like the ones on the edges of his wing feathers. The male figure had four arms. Kimoko got to her feet to get a better look at him when she heard Sheyra’s voice behind her.

“What are you doing here?”

“I…I wanted to leave something for your father.”

The girl lowered her head and quickly pulled out the letter and the silver flower that Estella had handed her. She felt Sheyra’s icy gaze burn her skin as she watched her from a distance as she placed it on her father’s throne. Behind her, she heard Sheyra approach her, felt her warm breath on her neck, but it was her words that sent a cold shiver down her spine.

“I know you were looking for something here…so you better tell me before I’m forced to kill you…” The girl felt Sheyra’s lips almost touch her ear. slowly turned to her, their gazes frozen on each other before Sheyra continued, a silver sickle resting in her hand, its handle as dark as the night sky. Which she raised to the height of the girl’s throat.

“Believe me Kimoko, killing you will not bring me joy or relief.”

“Sheyra it’s not like that… I just wanted to find out…”
“Find out what?” her voice softer.

“I wanted to find out something about Veridona.”

Sheyra sighed and then put away her sickle.

“I don’t know much about Veridona myself, except that it is the land of laws. However, no one knows where it is or what happend to their god.”

“And the people in this stained glass window? Who are they?”
Sheyra didn’t answer immediately, her hands went to the ring in her ear, which she nervously began to play with. However, after a moment she whispered.
“I can’t tell you anything more, if you want to know something count on that father will tell you… That also applies to Veridona.”
“Strange…”
However, the girl didn’t have much time to think about it. Kigami and Anstel entered the room.
“So? Are you ready?”
Kimoko looked at Anstel, then at Kigami. The latter was already fully conscious, his gaze focused, almost searching. He stood in the doorway, his arms folded across his chest, as if trying to assess the situation.

“Ready,” she finally said, straightening up and brushing her hair away from her face.
Anstel smiled slightly, as if in relief. There was something majestic in his posture, but also disturbingly calm. He had the silence that precedes a storm.

“Good. Let’s go then.”
Kimoko moved towards the two men, but before she took a few steps, Sheyra lightly grabbed her by the arm.
“Be careful there,” she said quietly, almost in a whisper. “My father rarely speaks directly.” Kimoko nodded, grateful that Sheyra had decided to help her despite her earlier tension. Then she walked over to Anstel and left the throne room with him and Kigami.
