President-Elect Elizabeth McCord got out of the car. Outgoing President Conrad Dalton and his wife, First Lady Lydia Dalton stood on the porch in front of the front door of the White House. For seven years, Elizabeth worked under President Dalton as Secretary of State. Her husband, Dr. Henry McCord, worked for two years under President Dalton as his ethics advisor. Now, President Dalton would hand over the keys to the White House and his presidential power to his successor.

The outgoing President and the President-Elect, along with the First Spouses, went to the Oval Office and met with the Joint Committee on Inauguration Ceremonies. After reviewing the proceedings of the ceremony, they headed out and their motorcade departed from the White House. It was a short ride to Capitol Hill.

At the US Capitol, the Joint Committee on Inauguration Ceremonies, President Dalton, First Lady Lydia Dalton, Elizabeth the President-Elect, and soon-to-be First Gentleman Henry got out of the cars. They went up the stairs and entered the Capitol building. Vice President Teresa Hurst, Vice President-Elect Carlos Morejon, their spouses, the children of the Vice President-Elect, and the McCord children were waiting for them. Everyone exchanged "good mornings." Vice President Hurst, Vice President-Elect Morejon, their spouses, the children of the Vice President-Elect, and the McCord children joined the group of Congress members, First Spouses, the President, and the President-Elect. The group made their way to the West Front of the building where the inauguration ceremony would take place. As they arrived and lined up in the order that they would be presented, the nine Justices of the Supreme Court were presented. They made their way onto the platform and took their places. The children of Vice President-Elect Morejon were presented. Then, the announcer said, "Ladies and gentleman, the children of the President-Elect: Stephanie McCord, Allison McCord, and Jason McCord." Stevie, Allison, and Jason came down the stairs onto the platform.

The Vice President-Elect and the soon-to-be Second Lady came down the stairs to the platform and took their places.
After fanfare sounded, the announcer said, "Ladies and gentlemen, the President-Elect of the United States: Elizabeth Adams McCord and Dr. Henry McCord."
Hand-in-hand, Elizabeth and Henry came down the stairs to the platform to cheering and applause and took their places. After the chairman of the Joint Congressional Committee spoke and a Roman Catholic bishop did the invocation and benediction, the National Anthem was sung and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited. A colleague of the chairman of the Joint Congressional Committee introduced one of the Associate Justices who would administer the Oath of Office to the Vice-President Elect.

Morejon stepped forward and faced the Associate Justice as his family gathered around him. Mrs. Morejon held the family Bible. The Vice President-Elect raised his right hand and placed his left hand on his family's Bible.

The crowd applauded and the United States Marine Band played 4 Ruffles & Flourishes, which was the inaugural fanfare they played after the Vice President and the President were sworn in. The new Vice President shook the Associate Justice's hand, embraced his family, and shook hands with the chairman of the Joint Congressional Committee on Inauguration Ceremonies, and other senior members of Congress.
After a musical performance by Peter Frampton, the chairman of the Joint Congressional Committee on Inauguration Ceremonies introduced Chief Justice Frawley who would administer the Presidential Oath of Office and politely asked everyone to stand. Elizabeth stepped forward and faced Chief Justice Frawley as her family gathered around her. Henry stood beside his wife and held the Lincoln Bible. "Madam Secretary, are you ready to take the Oath?" asked Chief Justice Frawley.
"I am," Elizabeth answered.
"Then raise your right hand and repeat after me,"
Elizabeth raised her right hand and placed her left hand on the Bible.
"I, Elizabeth Adams McCord, do solemnly swear," said Chief Justice Frawley.

The crowd applauded and cheered. To the north of the Capitol, the Presidential Gun Salutes Battery fired a celebratory 21 gun salute with heavy artillery while the United States Marine Band once again played 4 Ruffles & Flourishes. Then, the United States Marine Band played "Hail to the Chief." Elizabeth kissed her husband and First Gentleman on the cheek. She waved to the cheering crowds.
The chairman of the Joint Congressional Committee came to the podium and said, "It is my honor to present the 46th President of the United States, Elizabeth McCord." He went back to his spot and Elizabeth made her way to the podium as the crowd applauded and cheered. She gave her inaugural address. The new President and First Family spent the rest of the day participating in the Inaugural Parade and attending Inaugural Balls. Well, only the new President and First Gentleman attended Inaugural Balls.
