Ella’s gun trembled in her hands.

Vinci stood across the room, breathing hard. Sweat slicked his brow. Blood speckled his shirt. Behind him, the studio looked like a crime scene. Paint. Photographs. Bones.

Sketches of every murder.

Her photo. Her face. A calendar marked July 26th. Today.

She had followed the trail.

The fifth victim’s blood had led here.

To him.

To Vinci.

To Eon.

He raised his hands slowly. “Ella... I didn’t want this.”

She stepped closer. “But you knew. And you didn’t stop it.”

“I tried. I swear. I’ve been fighting him for months.”

“You drew the crime scenes before they happened.”

Vinci broke. Fell to his knees.

Tears ran down his cheeks. “I’m still in here,” he whispered. “You have to believe that.”

Her grip tightened on the pistol. The safety was already off.

“You’re under arrest,” she said, voice shaking. “Don’t move.”

But her finger didn’t pull the trigger. Not yet.

He looked up at her—broken, bleeding, terrified. Not of death.

Of himself.

And then—

His voice changed.

Eyes narrowing. Posture shifting. That grin curling his lips.

“Oh, Ella,” Eon crooned. “You look so radiant when you’re scared.”

“Get out of him!” she screamed.

“I am him,” Eon said, spreading Vinci’s arms wide. “And he’s me. No more doors. No more masks.”

He stepped forward, unafraid of the gun.

“Go ahead. Arrest us. Or kill us. But you’ll always wonder…”

“Wonder what?”

“If you could’ve loved the whole of him. Not just the broken half.”

Her throat ached.

He kept walking. Until the barrel of the gun pressed against his chest.

He smiled down at it.

“You arrest me,” Eon said softly, “and I disappear into a padded room. Vinci forgets how to feel. Forever. He fades. Like a ghost. I am his fire.”

She shook her head. “You’re his disease.”

“And yet… you still haven’t pulled the trigger.”

He handed her something.

A sketch.

Of her.

But this time… she was alive. Smiling. A ring on her finger.

Vinci’s signature at the bottom.

Not Eon’s.

She sobbed.

Because even now… Vinci was trying to show her something.

A future.

A version of him free from the voice.

But it would cost everything.

Her badge. Her name. Her life.

“I’m not your victim,” she whispered.

“No,” Eon said, stepping back, “you’re the ending.”

She raised the gun one last time.

And chose.
