Dhammawitaya School – 10:01 a.m.

Rin didn't hesitate.

The moment he saw Tinn standing in the doorway, blood dripping from his lips, grin wide and wrong, he shoved Sol and Eli back into the room and slammed the door.

“That's not a normal infected,” Rin muttered, heart hammering in his chest.

“No,” Eli said softly behind him. “That one's... aware.”

“Who is he?” Sol asked, still breathless from the near-collision.

“Tinn Kavee,” Rin said darkly. “Used to be my classmate. Bully. Psycho. Clearly hasn’t changed.”

From the other side of the door came a low chuckle. Then a voice—clear, steady.

“You can't hide in there forever. I don’t even want to kill you, Rin. Just want to play.”

Rin’s jaw tightened. “We need to move.”

He turned to Eli. “Do you have another way out?”

Eli nodded and pointed toward a side storage room. “There's a maintenance ladder on the other side. Leads to the upper gym wing.”

“And the rooftop?”

“From there, yes.”

Rin looked to Sol. “Stay close to me.”

Sol nodded.

They ran.

10:06 a.m. – Rooftop level

Jet and Tae slammed the rooftop door shut behind them, panting hard. The lock had long since broken. Jet wedged a pipe through the handles.

He backed away and dropped to his knees.

Tae crouched beside him, heart pounding.

“Are you okay?” Tae asked.

“I’ve been better,” Jet said with a wince, pressing a hand to his side. His ribs were screaming—Tinn had thrown him like a rag doll.

“I should’ve hit him harder,” Tae muttered.

“You hit him hard enough to buy us time. That’s all that matters.”

They sat there for a moment, heads bowed, sweat dripping.

Then Tae quietly said, “He wasn’t like the others.”

“No. He was worse.”

Jet looked at him, eyes full of something vulnerable.

“If I turn into that—”

“Don’t,” Tae whispered.

“I’m serious. Promise me. If I ever start to change—”

“I’ll stop you,” Tae said.

Jet blinked.

“...Even if it kills me.”

10:14 a.m. – Upper gym wing

Rin kicked open the door that led to the gym and motioned for Sol and Eli to follow. The space was wide, open, empty—for now. Sunlight poured through broken windows.

“Where’s the ladder to the rooftop?” Sol asked.

“There,” Eli said, pointing up toward the far wall, where a rusted old maintenance stair twisted up through the ceiling.

They moved quickly, boots echoing against polished gym flooring.

Sol stumbled.

Rin caught him by the arm. “Careful.”

Their eyes met.

“Thanks,” Sol said quietly.

“You owe me, pretty boy,” Rin murmured, smirking.

Sol flushed. “Do you ever take anything seriously?”

“I’m taking you seriously.”

Sol blinked. Just as he was about to respond—

The far door burst open.

Tinn again.

“How the fuck—” Rin started.

Tinn grinned, licking his teeth. “I never said I was slow.”

He ran at them like a beast.

Rin shoved Sol toward the ladder. “Go! Take Eli!”

“What about you?!"

“I’ll hold him!”

“Rin—!”

“GO!”

Tinn tackled Rin hard. They hit the ground, fists flying.

Rin punched first—hard, fast—but Tinn didn’t bleed like he should. He just laughed. Grabbed Rin’s wrist and slammed him into the ground.

“You always thought you were better than me,” Tinn growled.

“I am,” Rin spat, kicking him off.

They fought like animals—grunting, cursing, hitting with everything they had.

Sol climbed the ladder with Eli, tears burning in his eyes.

“I shouldn’t have left him,” Sol whispered.

“He told you to,” Eli replied gently.

As they reached the rooftop, Mew was already there—bloody, panting, holding a metal pole.

“Jesus,” she gasped. “There you are. Where’s Rin?”

“Fighting someone,” Sol said, voice shaking. “We have to go back down.”

“He told you to come here,” Eli reminded him. “He knew what he was doing.”

“But he’s alone!”

A bang echoed below.

Then footsteps.

Then—

Rin stumbled through the hatch, bloodied and breathing hard.

Sol rushed to him. “You’re—!”

“Not dead yet,” Rin gasped, wiping blood from his mouth. “Where’s Tinn?”

Eli looked down through the hatch. “Gone.”

“For now,” Rin muttered.

10:33 a.m.

The rooftop wasn’t safe.

Too open. No walls. One access point.

They gathered in a circle—Rin, Sol, Eli, Mew, Jet, Tae.

Jet looked up with surprise. “You made it.”

“Barely,” Rin said.

“Where’s Tinn?” Tae asked.

“Alive,” Eli said quietly. “But not human.”

Mew looked around. “So what now? We can’t stay up here forever."

“We need supplies,” Sol said. “Water. Food. First aid.”

Jet nodded. “And weapons.”

“I know where we can find all of that,” Mew said.

Everyone turned.

She cracked her neck. “The basement.”

Jet groaned. “Why is it always the basement?”

Mew shrugged. “Because that’s where the weapons locker is. The old P.E. coach used to keep bats, helmets, first aid. I saw it once when he caught me smoking.”

Rin smirked. “Of course you did.”

Sol looked around. “We

need to rest. Then we move. Tonight.”

They all nodded.

Except Eli, who looked at the sky—clouds gathering.

“They’re going to come,” he whispered.

“Who?” Sol asked.

“The ones who can still think.”
