Dhammawitaya School – Main Courtyard – 3:00 a.m.

The moonlight flickered like breath on glass.

Eli stepped forward, heart thundering.

The girl stood perfectly still beneath the twisted arch of the school’s ruined gates, her school uniform untouched, her bare feet splashed in drying blood.

She wasn’t panting. Wasn’t sweating.

She smiled like she’d just arrived at a party.

Like she belonged here.

“Eli.”

His blood turned cold.

He hadn’t heard that voice in over a year.

“…Lada?”

The girl tilted her head. “You remember me.”

Tae, who had followed Eli out moments earlier, froze.

“You know her?”

Eli didn’t answer.

Lada took one step forward.

The school lights flickered—though there was no power.

The air seemed to tighten.

“She died, Tae,” Eli whispered.

“What?”

“She died. A year ago. I saw it.”

3:03 a.m. – Upstairs Classroom

Jet was still sitting alone in the dark, staring at the cut on his forearm.

It hadn’t changed.

Not yet.

He heard voices downstairs.

He stood.

He grabbed the closest thing—an iron rod from a broken chair—and headed toward the noise.

His heartbeat wasn’t normal anymore.

He could feel it.

Thick. Loud.

Like something inside him was waking up.

3:05 a.m. – Courtyard

“Eli,” Lada said sweetly, “you look stronger.”

“I buried you.”

“I came back.”

“How?”

She smiled. “You should know. It’s in you too.”

Tae stepped closer. “What are you?”

Lada turned her gaze on him—and Tae stumbled back.

Her eyes were blue.

Not glowing like the infected.

No.

Worse.

Alive. Intelligent. Endless.

“I’m not like the others,” she said softly. “I don’t eat brains. I create them.”

Eli’s chest tightened. “You’re controlling them.”

“I’m becoming them.”

3:08 a.m.

Inside the school, Rin woke again—heart hammering.

Sol leaned over. “What’s wrong?”

Rin’s voice was dry. “Something’s here.”

Mew, looking out the window, murmured, “She’s back.”

“Who?” Sol asked.

“The girl in blue,” Mew said. “The one I saw in the stairwell weeks ago.”

“You never told us.”

“She wasn’t… real. I thought I imagined her.”

Rin sat up, still weak. “You didn’t.”

3:11 a.m. – Courtyard

Lada stepped forward again. “It’s spreading faster than we thought.”

Eli’s voice dropped. “What do you want?”

“To finish what we started,” she said.

“You died. You didn’t finish anything.”

Lada laughed. “I didn’t die, Eli. I changed. You and I were always meant to survive. But you clung to your humanity like it was a medal.”

She took another step.

“I let go.”

Eli’s jaw clenched. “You’re not human anymore.”

“Neither are you.”

3:15 a.m.

Jet arrived behind them, unnoticed, gripping the metal rod.

Lada turned slowly. Her smile never faltered.

“Ah. The one who hides his wound.”

Jet froze.

“How did you—”

“I can hear it,” she said softly, “like a heartbeat inside a thunderstorm.”

Tae’s eyes widened. “Jet…”

“It’s nothing,” Jet lied.

Lada tilted her head. “You’re lying. But that’s okay.”

She turned her eyes back to Eli.

“I’m here to offer you something.”

“No,” Eli said immediately.

“You haven’t even heard it.”

“I don’t need to.”

She sighed. “Fine.”

Her next words came out like a spell.

“Then I’ll take the others.”

3:16 a.m.

Every infected corpse in the school—

—the ones they thought were long dead—

twitched.

Then stood.

3:18 a.m. – Throughout the School

Blood-stained teachers. Broken classmates. Janitors. Librarians. Students who died during the first wave.

They moved.

Together.

Fast.

Coordinated.

Not mindless.

Sol turned to Mew. “Run. Get Tae.”

“Where are you going?”

“To fight,” Sol said. “To keep Rin alive.”

3:21 a.m. – Courtyard

The group collided like a storm.

Jet smashed an infected boy’s skull into the pavement.

Tae screamed as one lunged for him—Mew stabbed it through the temple.

Rin pulled Sol behind a barricade.

And in the center of it all…

Lada stood calm.

Watching.

Smiling.

Not lifting a single finger.

Just controlling.

3:29 a.m.

Eli reached her. Grabbed her by the collar. “Why?”

“Because we were gods once,” she whispered. “And I’m here to remind you.”

He shoved her back.

Her feet never even stumbled.

“You’re too late,” she said.

Eli’s eyes flared.

His arms glowed.

For the first time, he let the virus flow.

3:31 a.m. – The Explosion

The energy burst from Eli like a shockwave.

The undead dropped like puppets with cut strings.

Silence fell.

Lada’s body hit the ground.

Still.

The group stared in disbelief.

Jet collapsed.

Tae rushed to him.

“JET!”

Jet’s body shook.

His veins were dark.

He was turning.
