The yelling would always start.

Two,

Great shaking sobs would rake through my chest,

My voice an awkward, rasping, wailing thing.

Three,

”Shut up!”

Four,

”I can’t.”

Five,

I found a switch.

Six,

Little to no tears anymore, 

Little to no feelings.

Seven,

Years later, and I don’t remember much of anything before the age of nine.
