“He’s gonna screw it all up, isn’t he?” Zephyr looked at me, exhausted.
I sighed, grabbing my Firebrand and walking up to Zephyr.
“You want this plan of mine to work, right? You know I want her dead as much as you do, and this is the only way we can take her down. So just put some trust into me and my idea, ok?”
He looked… disappointed. I think maybe he wanted to take down Cynthia himself, but she’s, realistically, unstoppable.
Through the D.F.E, silence broke as Axel finally spoke.
“Oh, Zephyr? He… He was asking me if I knew where you were, that's all!”
“And did you tell him..?”
“Well, I… No.”
“So how does that explain how he was able to find me?”
“Buck? I mean, they are working together, right?”
Axel… Why did he mention me?
“They are? How do you even… know that?”
“Well… it’s…”
“Don’t lie to me, Axe. Stop it. Just tell me what’s really going on. Are they manipulating you? Is it part of some grand scheme?”
After that, it just… cut off into static.
“He broke it, didn’t he?” Zephyr claimed, frustrated.
“He’s gonna spill. We have to hurry.” I say.
A few more teleports later, we finally arrived at the Arena.
“Jeez, the teleport range on this thing is so bad.”
“Buck.”
“Yeah?”
“You know… after this… we’re going back to being enemies, right?” Zephyr pointed the Ghostwalker at me, not exactly threatening though.
Why doesn’t he still understand? No matter, because Telamon will still judge him once we finish our goal.
I respond back with a simple “Yeah, whatever. Enemies.”
We walked a bit further until we reached the centre. Zephyr grabbed the Ghostwalker with both of his hands.
“You ready..?” I smiled slightly at him. Not sure why.
“Sure.”
“Wait. Can I just… say something first?”
“What? We don’t have much time until Cynthia knows we’re here again.”
“…Nevermind. Just do it.”
I couldn’t tell him about my conflict. After Dominance’s death, it’s hard for me to believe anymore. I know I heard that voice when I stole that Firebrand at The Heights, but…
“You can go now, by the way.” Zephyr said, snapping me back in.
“…Can I just watch this first? I would at least like to see the beast.”
“Fine. Just stand back. It’s just going to attack everything it sees.”
It’s hard to put trust into something that only exists to destroy. Once Cynthia is killed, what then? I guess we can still stick to our original plan; to cause worldwide destruction. Kill those who refuse Telamon. But then we’ll only have Zephyr to deal with.
Zephyr spread his legs, lifting the Ghostwalker with his two hands. He took a deep breath and let out a loud shout, as if he was focusing all of his rage against Cynthia into the sword. The Ghostwalker came crashing into the floor of the Arena and suddenly, the whole atmosphere changed. The sky around me changed to a greyish-black, and the ash that covered the ground had disappeared. The collapsed bridges, broken walls and dented poles all seemed to begin to fix itself. It was a strange phenomenon. Piles of machines started to conjoin, along with the human dead Conjurers and Swordsmen. Dominance’s body floated into the air before merging with the corpses. I watched in awe as a giant beam of light began to emit from the crack the Ghostwalker made in the ground, and suddenly the flesh of the humans had formed and hardened into a staff. Suddenly, the voice of our Leader beckons from behind me.
“Buck? What are you doing with the opposition?”
The hairs on my neck stick up. Suddenly the temperature became a lot colder than normal.
Our leader, the Shadow Rider.
“Wh… why are you unleashing that?”
“What do you mean?” I say, curiously. It can’t be that bad, right?
“You idiot!”
He unsheathed the Darkheart, one of the more… powerful of the seven sacred swords, and began to charge straight at Zephyr.
“Wait! Stop! I can explain!”
He came to a halt, but he was almost right next to Zephyr, who paid no attention to Shadow Rider but was still focusing on the sword. It was like he couldn’t hear anything because of the deafening ringing emitting from the beam. Zephyr had nearly already finished summoning the Amalgamation.
I explained our intentions. Our plan and temporary alliance with Zephyr. He put away the Darkheart. He seemed to understand, but still thought it was a bad idea.
“If you think it will take down the Guardians, go ahead. I will not stand in your way if you believe it will work, but just remember that after they are killed, that thing will look for more blood.” He reached out a finger to my chest. “Even yours. So make sure you’ll be able to kill it after it serves its purpose.”
I nodded.
“Don’t worry, I’ve got it, ok?”

The transformation was complete.
“It will… take a while for it to become aware, you know.” An old voice said. There he was. The Absolute Toxin, green cane in hand, barely scratched in its many battles.
“The Amalgamation.” He coughed. “Those entities take a long time to become aware of its goal. But by the time the Guardian arrives, it should function.”
“Dad? What are you doing here?” Shadow Rider looked at him, strangely.
“Oh… I felt a strange presence coming from here and had to come. But don’t worry, we can get out of here in time before it gets feisty… hehe. Come on, let’s go.”
The two had left. Zephyr collapsed in the centre, unconscious.
This could be my chance.
I unsheathed the Firebrand, grabbing it with my two hands and pushing the blade against Zephyr’s back. I struck.
The sword, placed right next to his head. I missed it.
I couldn’t do it. I couldn’t. This belief. These Swords. All of it. It’s pointless, isn’t it?
I picked up the Firebrand from the ground, and took my leave, leaving Zephyr abandoned.
I could see the two in the distance. Father and Son. Lineage passed down.
But Dominance… he’s dead now. And it’s only a matter of time before I'm next. I can’t go to the Sunrise. I want to be… a god. Just like Telamon. To reside with him and rule this universe. But how…
How can I believe in all of this..?
