"Magic lives in the very fabric of nature. And here in our circle of stone, it's magnified. The Vessel tests your ability to channel that magic. Later, you may learn to connect with other elements, but your first year is all about the element you were born with," Dowling said as she walked around, looking at the students.
Letting out a sigh, Hazel kept her eyes closed as she listened to Dowling's words. Slowly one by one, the different elements went up. Nearly, everyone had already gone for their turn except for Hazel. Beatrix looked at Hazel confusingly.
"You haven't gone up yet," Beatrix whispered. Hazel heard it, and kept quiet.
"There are some gifted with more magic than anyone has. Double power but related," Dowling said, diverting her attention to Hazel who had already made eye contact with her. Sighing, Hazel stood up, earning multiple of stares from the others.
Touching the vessel that laid in front of her, she looked at it. Her hands lightly touched it and tiny red fading colour surrounded it. Opening her eyes, the coloured changed from her natural brown eyes to dark maroon red. She could hear every emotions and words emitted from people's head. She could read what they were thinking of. Slowly, she collected them.
Every thoughts circled around the vessel, turning into a ball shape like, mesmerising everyone. Letting it go slowly, her eyes turned back to how it was as she looked at Dowling who was smiling at her. "Good."
"Dismiss." Hazel stood up, leaving Beatrix to run and catch up with her. Beatrix kept trying to talk to her while Hazel simply hummed in response. She wasn't a fan of talking to someone who she didn't know till now.
"Sweep the leg."
"Could you try being 50% less of a dick?" Sky questions.
"Well, I'd be 50% less fun," Riven laughed as he looked at Sky.
"You are not fun as always Riv," Hazel said as she stood beside him. Riven quietly, wrap his arm around her waist, pulling her closer. Beatrix, watching this, let out a tiny, small smirk.
"Remember what a lost cause you were last year? Two black eyes and a sprained ankle, day one," Sky sighed as he listened.
"I travelled here and there just for you idiot. Don't get yourself killed on the first day," Hazel said as she looked at Riven, "Cousin Sky, don't be amuse by his attitude. You know that he has always been like this since day 1." Riven scoffed as he heard her.
His hand leaving the girl's waist before he walked towards a first year who was looking at his phone. Sky leaves to talk with Stella leaving Hazel with Beatrix once again.
"You and Riven are definitely not just friends," Beatrix smirk as she moved closer to her. Hazel's eyes unknowingly turned red before turning back to normal. She looked at the girl before looking back at Riven who was already looking at her.
"If you were to fight, you have to win over a rookie. Which you can't, so focus, instead of acting like a perv," Riven whispered before walking towards Hazel. "How was lesson, Zel? I see you met Beatrix."
"Don't worry, I won't fuck your Loverboy. I was there for a chat with him only," Beatrix said as she looked at the two.
"I'm not concern about Riven's fucking life," Hazel quietly said as she looked at her phone, "Also lesson is terrible. I hate seeing the water fairy's shock look." They walked to the cafeteria, only to see the same suitemates queuing up. Silently groaning, she turned around till Riven pulled her back.
"Skipping lunch on the first day? Not quite like you," Riven said as he hung his arm around her.
"Maybe it is because her lovely suitemates are here, avoiding them? Be observant for a bit, will you?" Beatrix said as she looked at the front. Riven looked at Hazel before putting on her airpods for her, turning on her music.
"She doesn't like hearing people's thoughts and feelings," Riven quietly said as he stood at the outer lane.
"Someone's a changeling," Hazel mumbled taking out the airpods and looking around, "I'm going somewhere, Riven get my old usual order." She walked away, turning her head again and again.
"That's gonna be the easiest assignment we'll have, and I'm making it worse," Terra said as she saw the girls shaking her head.
"So we have a plan to get my ring back," Stella said. Hazel could hear every single word that they were saying and every thought that was in their heads. Clutching her bag tightly, she walked towards them.
"Where do you think they're keeping it again?" Stella said as she held onto Sky who was originally talking to Bloom.
"Uh, there's only so many buildings outside the Barrier, they can secure a creature like that," Sky awkwardly said.
"The barn would be my bet," Terra said.
"And no one is going there. The burned ones are out there, deep in the forest. Fucking burned ones. You are just earning a ticket to hell," Hazel coldly said as she stood beside Stella, "Stella, you can't do this."
"We got you, double power fairy. You seem strong just now," Aisha said as she crossed her arms to the conversation.
Hazel glared at her, fist clenched, urging to kill the girl already. Stella held onto her wrist, restricting her. "Control. You can't get expelled this time."
Hazel groaned before looking away, finding Riven walking towards them with Beatrix. "So we just have to sneak in there and get my ring."
"Strange how casually you're tossing about the word "we."," Aisha retorted.
"Yeah, sounds more like a "you" kinda deal," Musa said as she shrugged.
"Except I didn't lose it."
"When do we go?" Bloom finally said, sighing.
"Gonna be blunt. Sorry. Bloom, you have zero control over your magic. That is, if you manage to channel it. Bad idea," Aisha said.
"I lost the ring. I'm gonna get it back," Bloom said once more.
"Isn't there any other wa- Riven, what the hell are you going here?" Terra suddenly said, seeing Riven next to Hazel, handing her the food.
"To pick up the princess. Oh, Beatrix left to the library," Riven said.
"Riven, where the hell are you bringing her?" Sky groaned as he saw the two of them being closed to each other.
"To our dorm. To our room-"
"Riven, it seems you have forgotten that that room has been used for work outs. The stench is incredibly strong. Let's go to my room instead," Hazel said as she walked away.
"She did state the right thing. Also I might crash at her place tonight. Not staying with a stench of aftermath," Riven said as he ran away to catch up with her. The both of them walked together in silence as they went to Hazel's dorm. Hazel opened the door to her suite, going to her room.
"Oh god, why is it so dark," Riven said as he only saw the natural sunlight coming through the window and tiny fairy lights. Hazel ignored as she placed the food on her desk and plopped on her bed.
He looked at her before turning his attention to her table, picking up her food and handing it to her. Before he could even open the curtains, she smacked his head. "Don't you dare," Hazel threatened as she looked at him. Riven rolled his eyes in response before opening a tiny weeny space for that 0.1% of light to be seen.
"What's with the water fairy that is apparently your suitemate?" Riven questioned as he sat next to her, scrolling through his phone.
"That bitch who decided to insult me by calling me a specialist because of the dagger you give me. Not to mention, she has some prejudice with Stella," Hazel muttered, "They're back." Riven looked at her before looking at her door, hearing the footsteps.
Sighing, he gently placed his hands over her ears, staring at her. "Their thoughts and feelings are too loud, isn't it?" Nodding her head reluctantly, she shoved the salad in her mouth. "Share some will you?"
Hazel glared at her before shoving it in his mouth. Letting out a choking sound, he smacked her shoulder. Placing a hand over her shoulder, he eyed at her food, wanting another bite. Acting oblivious, she ignored his stare, her head in a mess.
"Mhm, they're shouting quite a lot, I should open the door to figure out what they are talking. You know? Intruding," Riven joked as he stood up, quietly opening the door. Hazel laid sideways on her bed, trying to get a good view of the show. 227Please respect copyright.PENANAzwF56x4JvL
"You know, I would clearly have a peaceful and wonderful first year in Alfea but who knew, god gave me two shitty roommates. One who is bossy and arrogant, the other? I don't want to even talk about her," Aisha complained.
"Aisha, maybe you should look into the smaller picture, you are just looking to big. Maybe Hazel has something troubling her? She's a mind fairy with two different element powers, she has stress towards it," Musa said, "She blocks her emotions even I couldn't even get past that barrier of hers."
The girl could only give Musa a hum back, not wanting to even talk about the rebut. "You guys are being a little bit too loud you know? With all honesty, I think Hazel is a great person. She's just pressured in being the perfect person you know? Sky being her cousin and she is next in line for a crown in her realm. It's hard to tack- Ow the fuck? I am helping yo-"
Riven screamed as Hazel repeatedly threw cushions at his face, not missing a shot once. 227Please respect copyright.PENANAIPNtg8K8vm
"What the hell are you doing here," Aisha questioned, ignoring whatever Riven just said, "You know it's illegal to have cross rooming in Alfea."
"Weren't you listeni-"
"Just pretend you didn't see anything. Lie your way. But it's not like you can with that unprotected brain of yours," Hazel shouted as she finally stood up from the bed and walked out to the living room. "I like to address your issue with me. YOU think I am bossy, cold and everything. Fuck you for that. Considering that I'm your suitemate, I thought to address some issues. Firstly, first impressions don't represent everything. Your head is a mess and it disrupts my mood. Secondly, being cold to me BECAUSE I am close to Stella is completely unreasonable like what do you mean just because you hate Stella, you don't like me."
"Thirdly, it can be quite annoying for you to not filter your mouth before speaking. I hope you learn that and not do that anymore. I would be find to be alliance with you but if you get under my skin, I will literally skin you alive in a painful way," Hazel threatened before sighing and walking off. 227Please respect copyright.PENANAJLzOizJl81
Riven shurgged before closing the door behind him, leving Aisha and Musa alone in the living room with quietness slowly filling up the entire room.
