We grew up together on the street, you were my neighbor and best friend, like brothers in crime.
When I joined a gang and you couldn't make the cut, you were still my brother, my best friend.
Time went on, and we took different paths.
I sold drugs, and you were my best customer.
At first, it was okay, but you started wasting away.
I begged you to stop, but you just went somewhere else.
I always thought you were jealous of the money I had and the lifestyle I led.

The future was bleak for you;
You disappeared from my life.
I had forgotten you and went on with the gang life,
The hustle and struggle, just the daily grind of gang life.
I saw you years later, face down in vomit down an alleyway, screaming for a fix.
You begged me for a hit, just for old times' sake.
I told you no; you screamed at me and said you'd get even with me.
So you snitched on me and tried to take me down.
I found out and went downtown to hunt you down.
Like chasing a ghost, I finally found where you stayed,
An abandoned warehouse in an industrial complex.
I walked up some dirty stairs to your front door.
I heard you screaming and talking to yourself.
I knocked on the door; you opened it.
I pulled the trigger and shot you in the head.
You just dropped and hit the floor,
Blood puddled from the wound.
You were my best friend, and you had to die too soon.
Now you are dead and buried,
Six feet below me!
With dirt between us,
You’re laying in a box, decomposing.
So you sold me out, and it was lights out!
