I never had a home; I just had a brother.

We weren't related, but we were family.

My mom was always high and never had just one spot;

She'd be gone for days.

I used to have a dad who just kicked my ass and was always drunk.

Beat me black and blue, so bad I couldn't go to school.

I just dropped out; I could never follow the rules.

Always in and out of trouble.

It came so easily.

Juvenile hall was my second home.

I found the streets, or they found me.

Joining a gang was the only way to survive.

I had to prove to my brother I was worth something.

I had to shoot a guy just for trying me.

I was so young; I could barely pull the trigger.

The feeling of power was better than any drug.

As time went on, I got tougher and tougher.

I still got my ass kicked, but never in a gunfight.

Blood on the pavement, a price to pay,

To wear the colors, I’m here to stay—Los Angeles!

Scarlett oath, I’m bound in blood.

I never back down in a fight.

Shoot now, ask questions later!
