Then, they called my name, it was my turn. When I stood up to approach the beam I thought my head was going to swirl right off my shoulders. 'What was wrong with me?' And then suddenly my limbs became heavy.
I looked around and I realized that all the people were watching me, intently. 'Do I have a rip in my gym suit or something? Maybe a booger they could see but I couldn't feel,' I wondered.
The judge nodded her head for me to start. I ran to the beam jumped, without fault, and started my routine. I was three-fourths of the way done with my flawless routine and began the famous side split. As I lowered myself to the beam to form the side splits there was the craziest sound from deep within my stomach. It almost broke my concentration, I held the pose for a second or two longer because of the pressure I could feel, way down deep.
Then it happened, as I was about to raise myself up to begin the next position and then the dismount when my stomach and lower track decided now was the time to let off some pressure. The kids next to me asked what happened? Why'd did I come off the beam? Then it hit me they don't know. 'How could they not know? They must have been too far away to have heard it.'
