Principal Han’s office was usually a quiet place, a sanctuary of calm. But not today. As teachers gathered, an undercurrent of hushed and restless murmurs filled the air. The Principal looked at each of their faces in turn, then at the heads of Zenith Academy’s core departments – Mathematics, Humanities, Sciences, and the formidable Head of Student Affairs. Their expressions varied, ranging from thoughtful contemplation to stern approval. Outside the panoramic windows, a beautiful, tranquil garden offered a quiet contrast to the tension brewing within the room.
"As you know," Principal Han began, his voice calm, but with an edge, "Zenith has prided itself on fostering individual excellence for generations. But we believe the time has come for a more... concentrated approach." He tapped on his specially polished mahogany table. "Effective this semester, all students identified as top-tier talent – whether through academic skill, family influence, or clear leadership – will be consolidated into a single, specialized Advanced Studies track."
A ripple went around the table. The Head of Student Affairs, a woman with a gaze as sharp as a knife, raised an eyebrow. "Principal, this includes Ember, doesn't it? And Kenji? And the Li boy from Robotics? Their personalities... diverge."
The Head of Mathematics, a smart-looking man, fixed his glasses. "And let's not forget those eccentric kids from Class A," he added, his voice lowering slightly. "Especially that person. If anything goes wrong, the school would have to explain."
