I felt Viraa pull my conscience aside for the procedure.
"I have something for you," she told me as my mind was flooded with billions of years' worth of past and present universal knowledge. It felt like my brain had just been uploaded with the world's largest data surge in a split second.
"These...are your memories," I said, gripping my head as I tried to sort through it all.
"Yes. Consider it my last aiding act," Viraa stated softly. "I also left a gift for you on Earth. Can you see it?"
Memories washed over me as I used the vague thought of Viraa and the gift mentally to help me pinpoint the associated memory. Eventually, I found it and stared at Viraa in shock.
She smiled endearingly at me as tears ran down my cheek, and I hugged her in appreciation.
Once I could speak again, I thanked her before changing the subject to something that'd caught my attention.
"You haven't fully looked into the future beyond this moment. Not like you normally did in the past."
"I did that for you. Once I saw the event that you'd inherit all of my memories, I did my best to refrain from viewing beyond that day. I didn't want the burden of the future to be weighed upon you," she replied, placing her hands on my shoulder. "However, some things were unavoidable..."
I knew exactly what she was referring to. Of the few memories that were beyond that moment, the furthest was a glimpse far into the future. I could see a dark figure with white markings covering its body and what looked like stars in its chest. It held four floating crystals in the palm of its hand. Based on Viraa's memories, I had a good idea of who the figure was and realized one of the crystals was the Stone of Compassion. I had no idea what or where the other three were, but I felt an ominous, looming presence stir within as I pondered what it all meant.

Raina stretched her hands over Alissia's unconscious body and opened her eyes. Everything around her was depicted in visible particle cubes of matter the size of a small fruit instead of their usual refined detail. This was her aspect vision associated with her Displacement cintracy. Normally, she'd use this access to change the shape of those particles or swap their place with other particle cubes.
But that wouldn't be enough here. To perform the cleansing procedure, she'd have to focus her vision into greater detail so that she could alter Alissia's DNA.
She found herself struggling, having never pushed her vision and powers to the microscopic level before. She grunted with strained effort, visualizing smaller particle cubes as she pushed harder, straining her power. She could feel her perception hit a metaphorical wall that was the particle cubes, then, finally, go even deeper.
Suddenly, she could see the atoms in everything around her: the heavy, packed atoms of metal, the light, loose atoms of the air. It was all perceivable and in reach.... Her whole body glowed light green as she suddenly looked elated.
"Incredible," Raina smiled, looking down at Alissia's body. "After all these years, I never knew...I can see everything. It's like seeing every piece of the puzzle that is her body. This is so much more than simple displacement. I can see how this was used to reconstruct zasshu in the past."
Refocusing, she calmly looked over Alissia and noticed something strange. There was a powerful block within Alissia's brain. She recalled history stating a previous user of Displacement also claimed to have noticed blocks within zasshu who'd undergone 'cleansing'. No one knew what the block was, though...
Was it in everyone? She peered over to the others and confirmed her suspicion. It was in everyone's brain. No. Not Meira's, though. It was in the klevonians' brains.
Odd..., she thought as she moved on.
"I can see her DNA," Raina announced to the others. "It's strange. From what you all have said, she was human, and being a descendant of Viraa, who houses her within herself, she has pneumarian DNA."
"Yes, that's what happened," Michael confirmed. "She should have a mixture of human and pneumarian DNA."
"Yet, she has a small amount of klevonian DNA as well. In fact, there's more klevonian DNA within her than pneumarian," Raina shared. "It's maybe only five percent, but it's there."
Raina pondered this until she realized why something like this would happen, but Viraa intercepted, insisting she keep those details to herself.
...then she consumed an enhancement drug the humans referred to as JANUS tablets, which partially awoke her, Viraa concluded.
Hm. She's more unique than I thought. Mostly human, 24 percent klevonian, and 1 percent pneumarian. It's astounding, really. She's already a crossbreed. If the ratios were swapped...
"Let's see...," Raina willed the atoms of Alissia's DNA to begin breaking down and reconstructing, except she made some tweaks, swapping the human and pneumarian compositions. This made her DNA composition 75 percent pneumarian, 24 percent klevonian, and 1 percent human.
Raina grinned with approval as she set some of the DNA, beginning the procedure.
The others waited for Alissia's body to respond.
"Isn't something supposed to happen?" Za'Fia asked, leaning closer in anticipation.
Yes, her body is acclimating to the change internally, Viraa answered.
Suddenly, Alissia's body jerked as she went into shock, then just as quickly stopped moving altogether.
"Dammit, Viraa. You told me to trust you," Tymon rushed forward with urgency. "Michael, her heart's stopped."
"It's the stress on her body. Her heart can't withstand it in her current condition," Michael assessed. "I'll have to massage her heart while healing her."
"I can't stop the procedure otherwise she'll die for sure," Raina told them. "Meira, get some droplets to help with the healing."
"Be right back," Meira stated before leaving through a rift.
Michael emitted a sharp light around his hand and cut a slit into Alissia's chest. He then put his entire hand into her chest cavity. His healing caused the wound to start to close around his wrist as he softly massaged her heart, hoping it would begin to beat again.

I suddenly collapsed in my mental space, finding myself gasping as I tried to find a way to breathe.
"Viraa...something's wrong...tell them to stop..."
"Do not lose your will to live, Lisa. It is too late to stop the process," Viraa said to her.
"No...it's too dangerous...I don't think my body can take it."
Viraa shook her head, then silently rested her eyes on me, causing me to look away.
"Your irresolution is not due to the pain you are experiencing but due to the idea of losing me. But you must accept me leaving, otherwise your body will fail you. Is that what you want?"
"...No."
"It is okay," she said, placing a comforting hand on my shoulder. "I have had eons of experiences. That is more than enough. I have set the path for a better future for my world — a dream I set out to accomplish long ago. With you, my dream can be fulfilled. You can lead the people of Cindar —become a symbol for a better future...but you must possess the power to do that. Not everyone will want peace or unity. Some will attempt to disrupt the peace, to undo your efforts. You will need power to protect it."
"Isn't there someone else who can do that? I know I said that I was ready, but I don't want to do this if it means losing you."
"There are others who could keep them in check, but they are not of this world," Viraa replied steadfastly. "You are the answer for Cindar that I have been seeking. Though born elsewhere, you and the others will change everything. That starts here and now. Save them from Aeric, and they will acknowledge you."
I shook my head in denial.
"What about that other zasshu – the Celestial? We could find him instead."
"Though he has the power, he does not have the same qualities that you do. Your compassion gives rise to loyalty and respect from love instead of fear. That is what they need. Be that for them."
I bit my lip, trying to hold back from sobbing. Viraa hugged me tightly.
"I have known what you are capable of for quite a while. Trust me, Lisa, you were born to change our worlds...and do not fret over my disappearance. All my memories will be accessible to you, so it will be as if we become one. I will always be with you."
I felt things grow calmer internally as her words gave me some reassurance. As we stood together, I reminisced about how Viraa was always cryptic, which infuriated me, but I knew she always had our best interests in mind...
"I'm gonna miss your random intrusions and insights..."
"I am going to miss randomly intruding and imparting my wisdom," Viraa said light-heartedly, causing us to giggle.
We both noticed her presence had grown significantly weaker. Whatever was going on out there seemed to be working now.
"Hey, that gift you left me, when did you have time to do that?"
"Oh, I thought of it many eons ago. Allow me to tell you all about it..."
****
Raina thanked the All-Father when Alissia's heart began beating again. Admittedly, she didn't want this girl's death to be on her conscience.
"I'll keep healing her in case things regress," Michael stated as he watched Alissia intently.
Raina knew that look, but before she could pry, a familiar voice echoed through the room.
"As if I'd allow this to happen."
Suddenly, the walls moved unnaturally as light attacks shot from them, and Fuse emerged.
