A brief update of our friends back Earth...
Damien floated in the air with his hand outstretched. He concentrated as metal flew around him, moving according to his will. They placed themselves around solidifying cement foundations. He could feel the anchor bolts twist themselves deeper through as yet another metal frame for a new, advanced building was completed.
He and Trevor were in the city that was destroyed by Verin a year ago. The day it happened, while he and the others helped rescue as many survivors as they could, Arne had filled the hole in the ground so that a new ground was established. But even after a year, the humans hadn't completely rebuilt yet. How could they? They'd never had an entire city wiped off the map before.
So, Trevor felt it would help prove he's changed by periodically visiting the city to help the humans. He spent a lot of time designing and establishing the foundations for upgraded buildings and sewer systems for the city. With their speed, they helped the humans get months, if not years, ahead in rebuilding. They each put funds together meant to help as many people obtain new homes once the rebuilding was completed.
But that was for later. At the moment, as Damien used his magnetic powers to help speed things along in the west of the city, he kept tabs on Trevor, who was working on the opposite side of the city. Damien could help but be surprised at how determined Trevor was in this. He even went as far as learning more about architecture before making the designs.
Hey. Damien. Trevor's voice rang telepathically in Damien's head. I've been thinking. I want to figure out how else I can prove myself to Alissia to show that I'm not the same guy from before.
I've changed...at least concerning not wanting to see humans die and stuff, Trevor said.
The best thing you can do is simply pay attention to her and what she stands for. Then act according to her values, Damien instructed him as he continued his work.
Yeah, but that'll take time and waiting for the opportunity. I need something to do now, you know? Trevor insisted impatiently.
You're earnest about this, aren't you? Damien teased. You're helping rebuild the city that your former ally demolished. That's a good start, is it not?
Damien could almost sense the restlessness from Trevor as he thought about Damien's words.
I know! That robot she always had with her: If humans were able to build hundreds, I'm sure I could make one even better, he proposed proudly.
Damien blinked, surprised by the suggestion. Bringing Trik back would undoubtedly make her happy.
Could you truly bring her brother back? Damien asked curiously.
I can do anything if it's with mechanics, he responded with confidence.

Cindar – Forgeton Sector 01 – Pier
My muscles were tensed as I stood paralyzed in instinctual fear. With a suppressed EQN of 99,600,000 and a 5.5 threat level, it was clear that he was way out of each of our leagues.
"Hello. Vermin...," Aeric greeted us as he landed softly. The winds rotated violently around the area due to his pull. He looked in the distance and saw the civilians had already fled from the vicinity on boats, but many had stopped in their tracks to observe things before sailing away. He saw the alarms flashing and heard the loud evacuation orders from Sector 01 intercoms as some of the klevonians from the Burn Division were still present, setting up a perimeter. He looked around at us and saw how tense each of us was as we stared at him.
This pleased him.
"Thank you all for having the sense to be afraid," he uttered before looking at Fuse and then Cinder, assessing their conditions.
"To think that you're a match for Cinder. I didn't give you and your toys enough credit, Fuse. Well done," he praised.
Then he looked over at Felix, who lay on the ground, half unconscious.
"Apparently, I gave you too much credit. Targeting someone like the Ryfa Pakt and not bothering to learn more about her first. Disappointing. Fuse was wise not to inform you of your imbecility. You'll learn from this disgrace," he said harshly, causing Felix to groan and squeeze her eyes shut.
Next, he looked around at everyone else and Fulvia.
"For those of you unaware, I am Aeric, the most powerful being on the planet," he spoke, projecting his voice so that even those on the ships off the coast could hear him. "The pleasure's all yours. I'm here because someone among you lacks the respect that I'm due. So, if you want this unpleasant evening to end...bring me those of you who invaded my home."
"We don't know what the hell you're on about, but it doesn't matter." Cinder leaped in the air and dashed toward Aeric at full speed.
"Cinder, stop!" Fulvia yelled, trying to remind him of the conditions of Aeric's blood oath.
Fuse managed to outspeed him and appeared in Cinder's path, but Cinder activated his plasma and threw his plasma-infused hammer again. Lacking the energy to counter it again, Fuse was forced to evade it as the hammer barreled toward Aeric, warping the air and incinerating everything around it as it traveled.
Aeric stood calm as he raised a hand and directed all of the gathered energy that swirled around him at Cinder's hammer. But even that wasn't enough to stop Cinder's hammer, which continued barreling through it, only slightly slowing down from the resistance.
Aeric raised an eyebrow, impressed as he stopped the hammer with his bare hand.
"So, that is the infamous plasma I have heard so much about. It's impressive. I can see why your nation has so much faith in you," he commended.
"That's impossible," Cinder floated mid-air, baffled at what he'd just witnessed. My guess? This was the first time anyone had ever stopped his hammer like that.
"Something like this is child's play for me," Aeric stated, holding against the hammer head. "Even plasma can be eradicated by a black hole."
The hammer suddenly flew back toward Cinder, but before it could reach him, Aeric released a blast of some sort of dark cosmic energy that light seemed to bend around. The beam shot past the hammer mid-flight and hit Cinder before he knew what had happened.
When the blast struck him, it was curved, so the impact left an arc beginning halfway across his head, down to the center of his chest, and a little past his hips. Everything on the left side of his upper body had been instantly sucked into Aeric's blast.
Black holes, I thought. If his energy takes on the quality of one, then...
We all watched as Cinder fell from the sky and crashed to the ground. Unable to move properly, he grunted at Aeric as some orange-red ichor dripped from his mouth.
"You seem surprised that. Did that hurt?" Aeric gloated as he levitated so that he could look down at us. "I have the means to kill even the bansedai. Your intangibility is meaningless before me."
He lowered himself and landed before Cinder, then extended a hand to him.
"Despite your meager power level, you stand equal to my strongest follower. Why limit yourself to this level? Come. Stand at my side. I can offer you more power. I can reward you with greater glory – far greater than a mere General. Don't waste your potential here."
Cinder coughed up more of his ichor blood but didn't respond. He just looked up at Aeric, his eyes defiant even as they've lost their strength.
Aeric frowned in disappointment, then looked at Cinder's hammer that lay nearby. He appeared to be giving something some thought before acting.
"Fine." He said, having made a decision. "Then I have other plans for you."
He kneeled lower and whispered something to Cinder, but none of us knew what it was. Once he finished, he severed Cinder's head, effectively taking him out of commission.
Then he turned and happened to come across Za'Fia.
He paused and observed her from afar.
"You fit the description of one of the intruders..."
Without hesitation, he casually raised his hand again and fired the same high-density beam of cosmic energy from earlier at her.
