Everything was ready for the yacht party including the guest list which was planned ahead of time.
A DJ was behind the turntable and mixers blasting out dance house music as the guests arrived onboard the yacht.
And there was a continuous flow of gourmet canapes and champagne.
As the guests gathered on deck Aiden sat alone in one of the cabins below deck.
"Should I leave? Or should I stay?"
Aiden asked himself.
"Should I leave? Or should I stay?"
He asked himself once more.
Is staying the right decision when one was lost in situations, circumstances and miscommunications?
Should one stay when one has already given their heart away to another?
Lost in the labyrinth of his mind Aiden got up and run to the window and looked out at the sea. He wanted to break up, to break free, to break through and break down all at the same time.
There was a soft knock and White entered the cabin.
Aiden immediately faked a smile to greet him.
Kissing Aiden's forehead, White asked: "Are you ready?"
Aiden nodded.
White sat down and pulled Aiden onto his lap.
"How do you feel about moving to Hong Kong?"
"Hong Kong?"
"I have received a job offer from a pharmaceutical company there and I would like you to join me there."
"But......I.....this is very sudden," Aiden stammered. The very idea gave him an allergic reaction.
"Just think about it. That's all I ask," White entreated gently.
"Let's join our guests," Aiden said as he moved away from White.
Looking lovely in a flowing blue toile sun dress and gold jewelry as she mingled among the other guests was May.
On seeing White hold court among his courtiers, she approached him.
"Such a nice party. I am very impressed."
White was shocked when he turned around and saw her.
"What are you doing here?"
"I heard you were having a little soiree and since I didn't get an invite I decided to crash it."
"Please leave," White beseeched.
"Do not ask me to leave," May smiled as she marched around White like he was an alter.
"What do you aim to accomplish by coming knowing Aiden will also be here?"
Turning away from White May sat down on a couch nearby. He came and stood in front of her.
May reached for his hand and urged him to sit beside her.
White refused.
"Why are you so rude to me?" May asked.
"Please leave," White insisted.
"Are you going Hong Kong?"
White gave no reply to her inquiry.
"I see it clearly now and I know you too well. Your plan is to ditch me and go to Hong Kong with Aiden."
"Why are you bringing Aiden into this," White was getting agitated.
"Do you have feelings for Aiden," May's expression became very bitter.
"I will not play this game with you."
"So it's the truth," May's voice became dolorous as she looked up at White.
"So all this while you were just mocking me?"
"I have told you a thousand times......."
"I do not believe anything that comes out of your mouth anymore," May declared passionately.
Very fed up White turned to leave but May grabbed his hand.
"Where are you going? We are not done talking."
"I do not know what to say to you when you are this upset."
May let go of his hand.
"I have thought about this and I have come to the conclusion that you longer love me. And it's because you have developed feelings for Aiden."
White became more frustrated.
"What do you want from me?"
"Let's end everything here and now," tears spilled down May's cheek as she said the words.
"Do you really want us to end it?"
"Yes. Let's end it," May confirmed as heart sobbed with dejection.
As White turned to leave May spoke up.
"Do you deny your feelings for Aiden?"
"Fine!"
White faced May again.
"I won't deny that a part of me loves Aiden. Are you happy now?"
May gets up and slaps White before leaving with tears in her eyes.
May had left the yacht but the party still sparkled on with merriment.
Prima was in high spirits as she reached for another champagne glass and glided towards Aiden.
"Where is White, Pajo is looking for him?"
"He must be around somewhere," Aiden replied as he looked around the chattering crowd.
"I am sure you have heard about it," Prima said in passing.
"Heard about what?" Aiden innocently asked.
"Have you not heard about what happened to Yim?"
"No."
"It's all over the news. Yim is dead."
"What?" Aiden choked.
"A man went swimming at the beach and saw a body floating towards him and so he called the police before the body was recovered and taken to the mortuary."
"Apparently he had been floating at sea for some time. The body was bloated to such an amazing extent that it was virtually unrecognizable. It was starting to decompose."
"That sounds horrible. I reached out to him to send an invite but my calls went unanswered."
"That explains why you did not hear from him."
"And no one reported him missing?"
"No, he was not reported missing. When was the last you saw him?"
"About three weeks ago."
"Everyone is saying it's murder and investigation is ongoing. The autopsy showed two bullet wounds just under right ear."
"Does White know about it? Because he has not said anything."
"Where is White by the way?" Prima curiously inquired again.
Aiden went looking for White and it took a while before he found him in May's company.
Aiden could not hear what they were talking about but judging by the expression on their faces, he concluded that it might be a heated discussion.
Which ended suddenly and May leaving the scene in tears after slapping White.
At that very moment Aiden knew it was time to go.
The following morning Aiden was dressed and ready. He stood by the window looking out while deep in thought.
We think we know someone but the truth is that we only know the version that they have chosen to show us.
Sometimes giving up was the strong and brave thing to do in the situation that Aiden was faced with.
Aiden pushed aside the curtains as a car drove to the front of the house and parked but the driver did not step out the vehicle.
The windows of the car were tinted so Aiden could not tell if the occupant was male or female.
White came and stood behind Aiden still in his pajamas and dressing gown.
"Who is that?" He asked.
"I do not know," Aiden answered.
"Are you expecting someone?*
"No, I am not."
"That's strange." White murmured.
"Are you going to take your morning shower?"
"Yes and I will be done before you know it. And maybe we can go out or something."
Aiden nodded as he drew the curtains over the window.
Hearing White sing happily in the shower, Aiden tipped toe quietly before putting on his green corduroy jacket.
He nervously turned and watched the closed bathroom door again.
Aiden then quietly picked up his phone and tipped toe out the bedroom.
"Go! Go! Go!"
A voice inside Aiden's head screamed as he hurried down the stairs with the light of freedom on his face.
He hoped to be gone before White came out of the shower.
Aiden had done his time with White and it was time to leave that relationship behind.
He was running back home to Han and he knew better never to lose him again.
When he reached the front door, Aiden sent a quick text to Han.
Aiden put the back into his pocket and opened the front door......
Standing on the door step and pointing a gun at Aiden was May.
"You are coming with me," was all she said to her captive.
Aiden immediately knew a nightmare was about to begin.
"Get into the car and drive," May ordered, pointing the gun closer to Aiden's face.
Aiden was torn between doing what May said or screaming for White.
"If you call help, I will shoot without hesitation," May was dead serious.
Aiden nodded obediently and got behind the wheel of the car while May had her eyes firmly fixed on him the whole time.
"Where are you taking me?" Aiden was half frightened.
"You will find out when we get there. Now drive."
Following May's directions Aiden drove them to an abandoned facility building that had not been in use for decades.
Aiden looked around carefully wondering if he could make an escape.
But May reading his intentions quickly produced a syringe and stabbed Aiden's arm with it.
Within seconds Aiden felt paralyzed and then everything went black.
When Aiden opened his eyes all he could see was the ceiling. How long he had been unconscious he could not tell.
He knew his hands were tied up because he could not move them and he suspected he had been placed into some sort of box.
Was it a coffin?
Aiden felt sickened.
"You are finally awake."
Aiden noticed May leaning over the coffin with a triumphant smile.
"How do you like your coffin?" She playfully teased.
"Have you gone mad? Why are you doing this to me?"
May was unruffled.
"How does it feel knowing you are going to die in this very coffin?"
"Please May," Aiden implored helplessly.
May for a second seemed remorseful.
"To be honest I bitterly regret agreeing to this whole fiasco. If I had not allowed it I would not be going through this."
In a state of confusion Aiden asked.
"What do you mean?"
"Do you know about insurance fraud?" May began as she polished the revolver on the sleeve of her coat.
"Yes, I do."
"And I am sure you have heard about Nom?"
There's Nom's name again, Aiden could not help thinking.
"He did not drown," May went on, "he was murdered. White only made it look like drowning so we could collect the money from his life insurance policy."
Detestation, horror, nausea and repugnance was how Aiden felt after hearing this revelation from May.
It all made sense now recalling the insurance documents that he had found in the briefcase.
May was still not done.
"White also killed Yim because he threatened to tell you the whole truth. And It was I who told White to date you after we took a life insurance policy for you."
"The plan was to bring you to Hua Hin, then kill you and make it look like an accident so we can collect the insurance policy."
"But White began to like you so he didn't want to through with the plan."
As May revealed more truths Aiden felt like could not breath as he realized how sinister the initial plan was.
Now he wanted to know why May had kidnapped him.
"Are you going to kill me because of White?"
"You took his love which did not belong to you. So you will face the consequences of your actions."
May cheeked to make sure the revolver was fully loaded and went on.
"While you were unconscious I took a video of you and sent it to White. If he does not come within thirty minutes I will kill you and then I will kill myself."
"Anyone who gets in the way of my love will die by my hands....."
Aiden tried to free his hands.
"What do you mean?"
"What do I mean?" May repeated before reaching for a large gallon.
She dosed herself with its contents and then dosed the coffin while Aiden was still in it.
"No, please don't," Aiden implored when he realized it was gasoline.
"Help, please somebody help me!"
"No one is going to hear you....... Let's just die together so that White can collect the insurance policy."
"May.... please do not do this!" Aiden begged fervently.
"Shut up!" May screamed at Aiden.
"No, I won't shut up," Aiden screamed back at her..
Aiden shifted helplessly and kicked about inside the coffin.
"Please I don't want to die."
"I loved him and my only requirement was that he love only me. But you came along and changed everything," May wailed vengefully.
"I will kill you for it."
"You can have White for all I care," Aiden told her.
May shook her head.
"You do not love him but he loves you. And knowing that is agony for me."
"And I would rather die than suffer this pain. In fact it would be better if we die together."
May aimed the gun at Aiden head, poised to shoot.
Aiden closed his eyes feeling totally helpless as he braised for his demise.
He thought of his parents and how devastated they would be and he bitterly regretted not listening to his Aunt's reservations about White....
"Do not shoot....."
May turned and saw White.
White rushed over and placed himself between May and the coffin.
All Aiden could do was cry while being grateful White had intervened.
"May...... Please do not do this," White supplicated.
May stood her ground determined to carry out her intention.
"No!"
"Why are you doing this?"
"You are the reason why I am doing this," May responded in agony.
"You showed me colours I could never see with anyone else and then you betrayed my love."
"I died a million times knowing you were falling in love with Aiden. I am going to ruin myself by killing him!"
"I am prepared leave so that you and White can be together," Aiden implored again from coffin, "it does not have to be like this."
White tried moving May away from the coffin.
"Let's not do anything we will later regret."
"Too late for that. I fully intend to kill Aiden," May aimed the revolver again.
Like lightning White sprung into action and wrestled the gun from her grasp before throwing it away.
Not to be thwarted, May reached into the pocket of her coat and produced a lighter, intending to set the gasoline coated coffin ablaze.
White quickly grabbed the lighter from her before she could throw it into the coffin.
Feeling frustrated, May went in search of the gun that White had thrown away
White took this moment and forced the casket open and quickly helped Aiden out of it.
"Run!"
Aiden set off as fast as his feet could carry him.
May finally retrieved the the gun and her temper was more fired up than before.
Upon seeing Aiden fleeing May went on a shooting rampage.
As the bullets went flying about him, Aiden did not stop running. He kept running without looking behind him.
If he was going die, he was going to die trying to escape.
White adjured.
"May! That's enough. Stop."
His edict went unheeded.
This made White try to wrestle the revolver out her possession.
But May was determined not relinquish the weapon and because of that a tassel for power ensued.
"Give me the gun," White instructed.
"No," May defied.
The struggle became violent when White forcefully pinned May against the wall.
The gun suddenly went off.
They stopped the tassel as their eyes locked together.
White stepped away slowly and the gun fell to the ground.
After a moment May slide off the wall to the floor as blood stained her clothes.
White began to repent everything......
As Han drove down the street he looking at the derelict and dilapidated buildings lining the street.
He wondered if he was in the right location.
If Aiden was really here, what was he doing?
Han looked around again.
Something just didn't feel right.
Han stopped the car and got out.
Then to his astonishment he saw Aiden running out with his hands tied up.
Han rushed over him.
When Aiden saw Han, he completely broke down in tears. The sheer relief and happiness at seeing Han was overwhelming.
"What happened?" Han asked as he tried to cut the ropes with a Swiss knife.
"Why are your hands tied?"
"I was knapped," Aiden managed.
"By who?"
"By May. She wanted to kill me."
"What? Is she insane?"
Han was shocked beyond belief.
"I was fortunate to escape with White's help."
"White is also here?"
Aiden nodded as he was physically and emotionally exhausted.
"We need to call the police. Knapping and attempted murder is a crime."
Not long after Han had finished calling the police White came out looking for Aiden.
When he saw Han with him, he became enraged.
"What is he doing here?"
"You and May deserve to be arrested," Han shot back at White.
White ignored Han and rather tried to explain himself to Aiden.
"No matter what you have heard my love was never a joke and whatever I did it was to keep you from finding out the truth.."
"White that's enough. It's all over now," Han rudely interrupted him.
"Will you shut up! It's not over until I say I say so." White bawled.
Now they could all hear the sirens of the police vehicles approaching.
White stretched out his hand to Aiden.
"Aiden, it's not too late. If we leave now we can ran away together," White pleaded.
"I can't go anywhere with you. You are a murderer," Aiden told him.
White's expression slowly changed from hope to defeat.
"Is that your final answer?" White asked again his voice barely a whisper.
"Yes, that's my final answer." Aiden was adamant about his decision.
White looked down as he thought about Aiden rejection.
He looked up again with fresh resolve and determination. Reaching into his pocket, White produced May's gun and aimed it at Han.
"I have sacrificed too much to let you go and be happy without me....."
Seconds after the words left White's lips Aiden heard gun shots reverberate through the air.
Soon the scent of fresh blood and the smell of gunshot filled the atmosphere as the police vehicles arrived.
It was a moment of reckoning as lightning split the sky.
"Drop your weapon and raise your hands."
The police called out.
White dropped the gun and raised his hands, his eyes never leaving Aiden face.
Quickly a group of policemen pinned White to the ground and handcuffed him.
Han held onto Aiden before letting go and falling to the ground.
It started raining.
In that very moment Aiden was able process what had just happened.
"No...." Aiden grasped.
"It can't be," tears started welling up his eyes.
Aiden knelt down beside Han.
"Han....Han....." Aiden called repeatedly.
Han neither moved nor did he open eyes.
"Please..... Please open your eyes," Aiden begged helplessly.
Han's eyes remained closed.
"Please call an ambulance. He is dying. Can't you see that," Aiden screamed to the officers.
Aiden sobbed helplessly as he pressed his palms on the gunshot wounds on Han's body as if that could stop the bleeding.
Aiden was not prepared to accept this fate for him but then again not all stories happy endings.......
