Things. Things. We worship things
And people beg for sympathy they have no need of
We long like it's our God-given right
We long like it's our inaliable right
To worship material materialism an idol
We cannot look past ourselves
Past our ego, past our pride
Past the fear that lets us abide
That lets us abide in the fantasy
That we are the most deserving of pity
That we are the wisest and the most sad
That we are the good and all else is the bad
We look to our possessions and property
Individually owned or owned collectively
We look to great buildings and beautiful monuments
The pillar of myth that love is adornment
But there is so much there is so much more
That's beyond all number and vastness and score
People, and nature, the Creator's creation
Is all that is worthy of our admiration
