Smile back at me

When you walk away

So much I want to tell

but so much more I'll never say

Don't look back and tell me

"It's me, its not you"

because we both know, girl

that not one word of that is true

you aren't the first one

to turn and walk away

go on with your life

me, i'll be ok

and these are not tears

in my eyes

because the truth is

I don't want to cry

battered broken

and abused

i thought i could

depend on you

to make me strong

and set me free

but you just brought me

to my knees

tell me why

i'm not good enough

no matter how hard i try

tell me how to earn your love

earn your praise

instead of walking around

in this foggy haze

and you won't see tears

in my eyes

I need you to make me strong
